Previous owner drove it a lot and the paint has faded a bit.

Thanks to some tire and suspension mods, this one corners like it's on rails.

Needs 4 wheel steering to get rid of that wide turning radius though!

The first Hakone meets its end
Well,
Bad News. Almost exactly 2 years to the day after I took delivery of my 2020 Hakone Edition, the very first one in New England, it met its untimely end at the hands of an idiot driver. No one was injured, no other vehicle involved, and the only passenger was yours truly, the idiot driver. The only thing seriously harmed (besides the 86 and my ego) was the utility pole, now bought and paid for by my insurance (who also now owns my 86.....) |

I had just returned from a 2 1/2 week trip 3 time zones away, lots of travel, flights, and fun. Wasn't sleeping well on Monday, Tues, and Wed nights, had my Covid booster shot on Wednesday (with side effects). On Thursday, on the return leg of an 80 mile round trip, I fell asleep 5 miles from home at 4 in the PM. Road turned left and I went straight....
As I said, idiot driver who is thankful no one else was involved. |

I feel your pain on the utility pole. I "own" a pedestal stoplight in downtown Richmond, VA that I destroyed with my Audi Fox (which also happened to be Hakone) while in college. That was one fun car, even if it was front wheel drive.

Well, the Hakone was already my second twin. I had a 2015 FR-S just prior. Also I just turned 70. It looks like my next car will be more of a comfort touring sedan rather than a full-out sports car like the 86.
I am quite likely to end up with a new Acura TLX Type S (355 hp). Power should be "sufficient" and then some. I will never say "torque dip" again. I already know the Acura has a "stick shaker" (kinda like what airplanes have for stall warnings) for lane departure! Doug |
