Instructing at an autocross, I've driven both on the same day. I found the FRS very neutral and the BRZ with a tendency to understeer.
...and once you start messing with tires and alignment and bars and whatnot, things even out. |

5 star comment, Tcoat. I also find it funny that the first thing people say is "how do you drive it in the winter?" It takes patience and a different technique to drive it in the wet/snow but definitely manageable.

I suspect my experience is way more typical than yours. EDIT: oops, I forgot about the high pressure fuel pump. I did have it replaced under the tech bulletin, just as the warranty was about to run out. It wasn't because I was having an issue (I didn't even really have the crickets it was supposed to fix) but it was the chance to get a zero mile fuel pump for free.

My SO thinks the 86 felt safer and more controlled in the winter than my CTR, could've just been my tires though.

Most reliable car I've own so far (I've had 5 cars prior to the M4). Far more reliable than the FRS By year 3 of the FR-S I've probably had 2 engines. Still on the same one on the F82 @ year 3.

So 3 years into not having an FRS, why are you posting this to an 86 forum? Shouldn't you be on the bimmer forums talking about how the FRS isn't reliable? Genuinely curious

Still following the GR86 Would be a nice toy to play with but learned my lesson from FRS to not buy 1st year. Which is why I am posting in GR86 section, not FR-S or BRZ.

Well, you still could look at a 1.5 gen as a toy. I think it would be worth the second glance if they drop in price sharply from the release of second gen.
