I am curious where the engine weight loss came from. Having owned both the plastic IM and Red Al IM I can say there is way less than a kg between them.

I kinda fear toyota went a little overboard - which isnt to say thats not a lot of fun.
I mean I see the 'king of drift' saying one thing, while I'm seeing a completely different thing. He said 86 very stable. I'm watching the rear seem to unload and go very unstable under breaking. I'm seeing on oversteer the rear looking like its a struggle for drivers to quite get the feel of it because perhaps its wanting to snap - making the driver pull off throttle and regain traction as a natural instinct? Whereas I'm watching the BRZ seem almost telepathic drifting for drivers. Way more stable. I really cant wait to hear from international journalists. |

Did we already add the spring rates? cant see them - here they are.
Quite divergent, in addition to everything else. Spring rates GR86 Front 28Nm / mm (2.856kg / mm) GR86 Rear 39Nm /mm (3.9779kg / mm) BRZ Front 30Nm / mm (3.059kg / mm) BRZ Rear 35Nm /mm (3.57kg / mm) For reference, (someone please correct me if I am wrong) the OG 86 was (I only have kg / mm) OG86 Front 2.3kg / mm OG86 Rear 3.8k / mm Last edited by Blighty; 07-22-2021 at 02:02 PM. |

The hood and trunk looked like a silver golf ball with all the dimples. The top fared considerably better and the fenders had no damage All taken care of with PDR |

It's more likely that Toyota carried over these parts from the previous model, while Subaru went the extra mile to improve them. Bit disappointing for the 86 as these parts are clearly superior on the BRZ. |

That said, I doubt the Toyota will be much cheaper than the Subaru. Maybe enough to make somebody who is on the fence between the two decide one way or another, but probably not enough to justify retrofitting BRZ’s hardware to the GR86 just because you like the bumper better. |

the two models are so similar in price, performance, etc. even though toyota says they added some toyota DNA into the gr86.
most buyers will just buy whatever bumper design and car brand they prefer. |

Looks like the early GR86 prototypes had aluminum knuckles and chassis mounted ARBs. |

It doesn’t matter in the real world as shown in the lap times.
