Sad news, I personally loathe burples and wish they'd just bring back Ultramarine - compare the 2 below, Ultramarine to the left, Subaru's Sapphire with the paint code mentioned in the leaked info to the right. Some caution in judging based on these samples is warranted though as the Ultramarine paint chip's colour seems a lot darker and less saturated than Ultramarine looks on the FR-S: The paint chip for the current Oceanic blue code (it's named Lapis Blue Pearl on the site) seems to be halfway between the above 2 in its degree of purple tone: Last edited by Sport-Tech; 05-31-2021 at 12:29 PM. |

Nope.
This is WRB. Tone vary based on monitor but Neptune is easy to tell due to it's lack of pearl coat.

Neptune is far more noticeably lighter/paler than WRB in real world lighting. Much closer to the Corolla blue flame. I dont think they'll ever get close to each others tone without serious contrast/brightness adjusting. IMO the pic on the toyota website when selecting Neptune never looks like its the right shade to me as the real car. I think that blue 2nd gen pic with the happy couple is a BRZ. Im guessing the picture itself is a bit on the washed out side. Look at the wheel, isnt it supposed to be a bit more darker and gunmetal grey than it is there? Plus i think the wheel cap is a subaru logo...and theres part of the subaru logo/font on the upper left of the shot. |

Forget the wheels, year and model. It is the colour. That is not a WRB car with the smiley folks in it.

They look like alternate names. There is a Track Red i could find on the Kia. Its code is FRD though, and we know the door sill of the Japan Red releaserd model was DCK. There is nothing that comes under Trueno Blue, but it could be literal 'Blue' from the trueno, which there are a couple of 'Blue' colour codes (that's if the WCH one is false). |

They may call it a different name but it will be the same code. Much like the FRS and BRZ were the same colours but named differently. Very possible that the BRZ and the GR have a whole new blue common to both but named differently.
Even accounting for tone shift and fading I can not for one second believe that the smiley folks car is a WRB. It does not even reflect properly for a pearl coat paint.

Beltax found it off some instagram, theres likely a description of the pic somewhere which would tell us if its a BRZ or a GR86. |

Keep in mind that even the BRZ had a light blue at one point. There is no reason at all that both can't have one now.
