The only place I felt it was travelling through the Swiss mountains: 4-6 000ft.+ of elevation combined with steep uphill roads, two people in the car, 100lbs of luggage, and so many bends you can't keep the engine > 4,500 rpm
The other 99% of the time, I wouldn't have noticed its existence had I not seen a dyno chart. |

My first experience with the platform was a dealership rental car (oddly, an RS1.0) that had a torque canyon. When accelerating normally, on a level street, it felt the auto was programmed like a slow and lazy clutch/shift action, where it simply stopped accelerating. My car doesn't do that, only a barely noticeable dip, but it's there. Then again, I read on here about the horrors of crickets, but have never heard them in 16k miles. Depends on if your car was made on a Friday I guess.... |

I try to park out from other cars in store parking lots, but shit like this still happens. I came out from Walmart a few weeks ago and found this. The mirror was on the ground shattered. Luckily the passenger window was not broken or the whole mirror ripped off. No other cars around for 4 spaces. I hope the ahole who hit me did more damage to their vehicle.
Doesn't look that bad from further away. I ordered the OLM mirrors with a 10% off military discount. Contact them for a code if you are active, retired, or ex-military. https://www.ftspeed.com/part/a-70040...rors-2013-ft86 Installation was ~5 minutes each. They are less blue than pictured. Field of view is ~30% more and almost no blind spot. Debating whether to order the mirror cover, pricey with shipping charge, or just live with the dent in it. I have ordered parts from this dealer before with no problems. https://toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth....ver-su00303074 |

Picture from a fun canyon drive! Friend brought out his stage 1 mk7 GTI. Also had a good time getting chased by a fast 991 GT3 through the canyons (and a bunch of slower 911’s behind him). Really love the FRS on windy roads.

Did my first mods on this car since purchase last night and this morning:
* I flashed a stage 1 tune with OFT I bought from @DJ92. When I read the factory tune, the tablet did not generate a tune because apparently they didn't have the calibration for that tune loaded. I sent in a request for an off-the-shelf tune for that calibration and they responded within a couple of hours with all the off-the-shelf tunes for me. I know OFT has a lot of complaints about service, but I had a good experience. And the difference was noticeable for sure. Not only was the torque dip less pronounced, but it seems narrower, beginning to pull sooner. The car just seems zippier and more responsive. I don't plan any exhaust mods until out of warranty, so this is a cost-efficient solution for me. * I got rid of the My Pillow clutch "assist" spring. * I adjusted the clutch pedal travel so it's even with the brake. The clutch is AMAZING now. There is a wealth of knowledge here. So, I'm apparently doing stuff that should have come this way from the factory. I am eyeing that little spot where my heated seat buttons would be if I were Thurston Howell III. I am thinking very, very hard about making a little Kydex insert with an EJECT button. Or maybe the full compliment of James Bond Aston Martin accessory switches. Oil slick, smoke, spikes... Accessory power is close, so I could even make them lighted. Hmmm. Edited to add: I also plugged that sound tube hole. Later, I took my Air Force Academy graduate daughter (a brand new 2Lt) out to drive it. Rather... to learn how to drive a stick. :P Last edited by McMCOO; 05-30-2021 at 03:11 AM. Reason: "Oh yeah" |

I always wear polarized sunglasses, when the sun is out, when I drive. I have not noticed any interference from the polarized OLM mirrors.

I have OEM mirrors so no problem but... When I wear my polarized clipons I can't read that dang digital clock. I have to twist my head sideways or pull my glassed down to look over them. What's with that?

It happens because sunglasses are polarized vertically, but displays are usually polarized horizontally. The two basically block each other out.
You can see this for yourself with two sets of polarized glasses. Turn the lens 90 degrees to each other (hold one pair vertically) and you won't see anything. Turn them both horizontal (or the same direction) and you can see through them. I've run into this with other types of displays as well, such as in aircraft or on a boat. The FAA recommends not wearing polarized lens when flying because of this. It can also cause issues seeing through some acrylics, like used in airplane windshields. See page 4 https://www.faa.gov/pilots/safety/pi...sunglasses.pdf

My experience with polarized lenses is that a number of them are polarized in a random direction. One set of clipons, I had to tilt my head to the left, another set needed to be nearly upside down, and another needed to be tilted to the right
