Hmmm, interesting:

https://www.motortrend.com/2020-chev...rs-close-early

Also,

"A source told us previously that the C8's low starting price of $59,995 would only last for the first model year. And since it's common practice for higher-trim models to get production priority, it's unknown how many—if any—C8 Corvettes actually sold for under $60,000."

I can only guess that the only C8s we see on the road as of now were very early orders based on pre-production date deposits with a significant markup.

Anyone know anyone who disclosed their actual purchase price and has also acquired one?

Doug has his walkthrough/score video out.

^^
Locally there is a white one running around already. Z51 with the 3LT interior, and extra top. He said 90k when he was asked. I'm not sure if that was actual cost or he was just showing 'swag' I think spec'd how he did on the website builder with everything and carbon fiber door trim hits around 85k MSRP.

2020 Chevy Corvette Base Models Virtually Non-Existent

https://www.carsdirect.com/automotiv...y-non-existent

Quote:
The all-new 2020 Chevy Corvette is finally starting to arrive at dealers following a delay in production. However, our analysis finds that locating one anywhere near the car's official starting price of $59,995, or one that hasn't already been sold by a dealer, could be particularly challenging for consumers right now.

For example, out of 291 C8s listed nationally on the automotive website Autotrader, the least expensive car is a 2LT Coupe in Miami, Florida available in Black with Adrenaline Red interior and an MSRP of $67,295. The most expensive listing is an Arctic White 3LT Coupe located in Scottsdale, Arizona priced at $112,600.

Sadly, the $60k base model appears to be virtually impossible to find. Having said that, we generally find that dealers receive well-equipped styles first when an important model is redesigned. Curiously, we're also finding that a number of listings online appear to be for cars that have already been sold.

These are sometimes marked "Sold" or "Sold Order," but could potentially not be labeled at all. With production reportedly cut by 20%, we expect most C8s to sell out almost as soon as they arrive. Some dealers are even resorting to auction site eBay to get the most they can for Chevy's newest sports car.

For example, a Pennsylvania dealer is listing a 1LT Coupe with an MSRP of $66,990. The car comes with the Z51 Package ($5,000), Magnetic Ride Control ($1,895), and Battery Protection ($100). After 36 offers, the latest bid is $82,200 — an over $15,000 increase in value after less than a week online.

That said, the fact that the car can command a premium is a clear indicator of just how sought-after the car is. Chevy managed to receive 37,000 reservations for the C8 late last year, leading some to conclude that the car was sold out. However, shoppers should be aware that not every reservation may translate to a sale.

As a result, the chances of finding a C8 could be greater than some might think for those willing to pay the right price.

Potential buyers looking to score a discount will likely be disappointed. There are still no incentives to speak of, and our analysis recently found that lease rates can make a $60,000 C8 more expensive than a $72,000 Jaguar. Things could change, but we think it's unlikely at this stage.

Took a while considering it's Florida but I just seen my first C8. My son points it out and says "hey look at that" as we were coming towards it in the other oncoming lane.
I look and I'm thinking for a split second oh something exotic coming this way and it registers that it's rear engine then I'm like woah, that's the C8 and it looks pretty good.

I saw my first C8 the other day and was initially confused what it was. I actually like it quite a bit. As well, I saw the new Supra in person and tbh... I'm not a fan of it.

I saw a Supra at twilight tonight coming and going. The light signature and curves looked stunning in the perfect light.

Some interesting info I came across. Nothing new and awesome, but a look into the thoughts of the engineering behind the C8. Also has cutaways if you haven't seen them.

"Oh, yes, daddy!"

I agree with what he said - "Great car...for the money!"

Yeah, the panel gaps are 80s-kit-car bad. Yikes! My '18 BRZ looks like it was built by Lexus' standards in comparison. Lol.

Chevrolet may end 2020 Corvette production after making about 2,700 units

https://www.autoblog.com/2020/05/07/...ction-limited/

Quote:
It could be one of the rarest 'Vettes in recent memory

The eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette deserves a do-over. Its market launch was marred by a United Auto Workers (UAW) strike that paralyzed General Motors for 40 days in the fall of 2019 and a pandemic that forced the global economy to grind to a halt. As a result, the 2020 model may be the rarest Corvette in recent memory.

2020 looked grim even before Chevrolet began building the new Corvette in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on February 3. In January, we reported the firm planned to cut 2020 production by about 20% to make up for the working days it lost during the strike, and to offset the time it spent tracking down internal issues with the car. Dealer allocations were slashed, though executives mostly wanted to prevent stores from building an inventory.

The mid-engined Corvette finally began rolling off the assembly line, we drove it (and loved it) and customers started taking delivery, but its launch derailed again when General Motors began shutting down its North American factories to fight the spread of the coronavirus. Bowling Green built its last Corvette on March 20, according to Consumer Guide, and there's no word yet on when it will re-open. It remains idle as of writing.

Kai Spandle, the Bowling Green plant manager, revealed in an earlier interview that approximately 2,700 examples of the 2020 Corvette were built between February 3 and March 20. That number could grow if Chevrolet resumes production in a timely manner, but it's not going to increase exponentially, which means the 2020 will become one of the rarest regular-production models in the Corvette's history.

For context, Chevrolet sold 10,261 units of the Corvette during the 1960 model year, 17,316 for the 1970 model year, and a whopping 40,614 in the 1980 model year. Sales for the 1990, 2000, and 2010 model years totaled 23,464, 33,682, and 12,194, respectively. And, 34,822 seventh-generation cars were made during the 2019 model year, including 2,953 ZR1 models powered by a 755-horsepower V8 engine.

General Motors is gradually reopening its North American factories, but it hasn't revealed when the mid-engined Corvette will again see the light that awaits at the end of the production line. Leaked documents that surfaced online in March — two days before the factory closed — confirmed the company has stopped taking orders for the 2020 model, and it will begin selling the 2021 model in late May, or about a month earlier than planned.

"Further information will be forthcoming from Chevrolet regarding the handling of sold 2020 model year [cars] that we will be unable to accept, and the creation of a replacement 2021 model year sold order," the company told its dealers. This suggests customers waiting for a 2020 Corvette may end up with a 2021 model instead.

General Motors previously announced production of the 2021 Corvette will start on September 1, a date which — in theory — gives the Bowling Green factory time to build additional 2020 models before it switches to the next model year. We don't know if that date is still accurate, or if it has been moved. Similarly, what's on the list of changes the 2021 model year will bring is anyone's guess at this point; all we know is there are several new Corvette variants in the pipeline. We've reached out to Chevrolet, and we'll update this story if we learn more.
