My parents just sent me a bunch of stuff about auto incentives, I'd love to go car shopping except for the part where my household is taking a 30% reduction in income for the foreseeable future.

40% of Americans don't have the ability to cover an unexpected $400 expense, despite what that article says unemployment benefits rarely exceed full time employment pay at their previous job. Millions of people are going to be fucked over the next month and our economy will stall. Get your head out of the sand.

Ah yes the wonderful incentives.

In stock and select models.

Considering we're likely in the market for an mid-range hatchback or used wagon I'm thinking it would've been in my favor. Mazda3 or Golf/GTI, maybe a Merc E-class wagon.

But agreed, they don't mind letting the sporty cars sitting on the lot for a month or so since someone will usually come by wanting it and not haggling too hard.

Yes, many of times. Some of the Germans weren't too happy (so they yelled at me) about my tanks tearing up their sidewalks (because the tank treads were wider than their streets), nor knocking the corners of their buildings (because we needed room to turn the corners), nor tearing up a farmers barnyard because my tracked convoy made a wrong turn (opps my bad), nor the church that had a graveyard torn up because an M-60 tank did a neutral steer in it because it got stuck (yes, I really felt bad about that - ) nor .....

Actually, I'm half deaf because I didn't know they were going to fire the main gun (because I wasn't payen attention to the red flag waving - my bad).

The granddaughters just arrived for their Friday sleep over, so being half deaf sometimes has it advantages -

It varies by region but in my area, here's what's available this month and even bigger incentives are coming next month. Keep scrolling down, something for everyone including subprime borrowers.

Not personally. The wife and I have essential jobs and are even working overtime and at premium pay. We have more than the recommended 'six months of savings', and we are 30+ years from needing to pull from our retirement, so we aren't even looking at our 401k/investments (because things will eventually rebound). My brother is an officer. His wife is a city official. My parents are also essential and still several years away from retirement. My extended family works for Google, works for the city, are multi-millionare industrial business owners on the eat coast, is retired, etc. Almost everyone is coincidentally going to be fine by most metrics.

I also work at a California hospital, so we haven't been impacted by the surge levels other places are seeing, nor are we small enough to be negatively impacted by the low census.

Sorry if I seem disconnected to the struggles many American's are facing with this financial situation. I understand them to an extent, as I faced hard times during the last recession and bettered my position the best I could in preparation. But let's say I hope, and I am optimistic that recovery will come. Even though it was late, the response to this pandemic to minimize losses has been impressive, so I would hope our response to any economic hardships would be equally as effective. With that said, there was a lot of greed during the last recession at the expense of working class families, so I wouldn't be surprised if income inequality broadens that much more.

I had the idea that there would be less greed, that we would see far less of what we saw during the recession, that is, people who are the poorest getting taken advantage of the most.

I have seen deferred rent, deferred student loans, payment plans on bills, etc that I just didn't recall seeing during the recession. I remember banks jacking up people's interest rates after people missed a credit card payment, and foreclosures happening left and right. Big companies were receiving huge bailouts, but no one was looking out for the little guy, yet now, it seems different. Am I way off?

Read the fine print in those "differed" payments. In most cases you are just compounding interest. Sure you don't pay now but when you do pay you end up paying more. The financial institutions ain't taking a hit for nobody. The little guy is still going to take it in the ass. The middle guy is going to end up paying for all the bailouts (the money isn't coming from a magic cash fountain) so they will get reemed as well. The top of the pile will walk away saying "I have no idea what the complaints are about since I am doing fine".

Actually, Tacoma, Tundra and some of the hybrid rebates are rare. $1,500 cash back on Tacoma and $2,750 on Tundra, both 2020's, is bold for two of the best sellers.

86, Avalon and some other 2020's are recent. The $1,000 back on 2020 86 is good but will get better soon.

The best 86 deal was on the '19's that I posted up late last year (I think) of $3,000 back but those are almost cleared out so no need for customer cash on those after dealers got curtailment cash enabling them to offer the same deal independently.

Them advertising them for that and finding one may be two totally different matters though.

Toyota makes it easy to at least locate, selling price from listed price would TBD on negotiation or broker used like Costco:

https://www.toyota.com/search-inventory/

Incentives are determined by dealer request and total day's supply including dealer stock, in transit and port stock so if an incentive is listed, there's a good chance many will be available.
