May want to see if you can find some oval ones for more sound deadening effect. Also a riveted on tube body so you can repack them later on or try different packing materials.
Actually that's not a bad idea. I'll try to find a local shop to build just the muffler (hopefully using titanium) using the Q300 as inspiration (for size/design).

There are a ton of more effective ways to lose weight than with a cat back exhaust since it is so low on the car. I would put the stock exhaust on if I wanted quiet. Unless you are turbo you don't need the flow.
I have lighter wheels, I'm planning to get a lithium battery and maybe aftermarket seats. Anything else other than exhaust is not an option for me (it's DD car, not willing to delete stuff or invest in crazy expensive carbon fiber parts). Exhaust seems like an accessible option.

HKS HiPower SpecL is very light, louder than Q300 but quieter than N1 due to dual resonators. And it has very good flow being a straight through design, even better flow with HKS dual resonator front pipe. I have had those with stock header on my FR-S in the last two years.
There's a huge difference when using stock headers, with catless UEL headers any CB will sound a lot louder (MXP Comp RS for example is unbearable). I'll have to find someone with this combination in my area but the chances are slim (very small community). Appreciate your input!

Might as well have them cut the body off the existing mufflers, leaving the ends and rivet a shell made from material of your choosing. You could put a plexiglass shell and pack it with rainbow marbles if you wanted. Possibilities are endless.

carbon fiber is not that crazy when compared to titanium headers. You can get a titanium exhaust that costs more than http://www.marshcomposites.com/produ...em-style-trunk Marsh Composites Carbon Fiber trunk at $950.

How loud is the HKS CB you have? So far I heard for myself MXP Comp RS (VERY loud) and my Q300, so a comparison with any of those will help. Also, did you had any issues on the track with it?

I'm interested in this version as an alternative for titanium options.
Look at the mxp SP

Damn, sorry that I missed this.

For me, the HKS Single exit V2 is perfect. I'm 27, and I like my stuff loud but not too loud and I think it strikes a perfect balance. Haven't blown the sound limit at any tracks thus far. I would highly recommend it for it's weight, build quality, packaging, and sound.
