I've done the whole transmission on just jack stands. Compared to that, a shifter is a piece of cake. The first job I ever did under a car was my TRD Quickshifter. For most shifter installs, you only need to deal with a rubber boot, spring clip, and 5 bolts from underneath at most. You can undo the driveshaft support bracket (2 bolts) for more space, but that's optional. The rest of the work is up top undoing the trim and shifter bracket. |

OEM TS shifter is the best IMO. I thought it would feel identical to my 13 BRZ knob but with a red top, but it feels so much better and feels like real leather even though I know it’s probably not.
My 13 knob had a spinning silver piece/the leather spun so I had that reupholstered/repaired with genuine Napa leather. I still like the TS knob better. |

I enjoyed playing with that silver trim. Now i just play with the reverse lockout.
I'm very fidgety in cars, which is why i got a manual in the first place!

But for now OP, the "best of both worlds" knobs you're looking for is made by Raceseng. They're expensive, but when you want a weighted knob with a delrin cover or anything with multi-piece construction its not going to be cheap. They have a few different shapes and some cool modular stuff so you can choose different covers and centers and stuff. Go take a look because its exactly what you're looking for. Chase Engineering |
