This is where I don't get you guys with V8s. You have 350 ftlbs of torque across the entire rpm band in a stupidly light car. Then you need more? Crazy

I don’t “need more” but hey the engine was built to handle 1000 WHP so I think I’m staying modest on power. Cam is mellow and tune is meant for sustained high revs and track driving. When you’re spending big bucks on a swap it’s nice to have at least 500 to the crank even though it’s just a number and totally unnecessary.

I'm expecting it to pull like a Tesla with this flat torque table! No wonder my local tire shop loves me.

It's a want, not a need, and given the option why not?

I would just think that you expand the point at which you lose traction more and more when driving on the street, giving you less throttle range to have fun with. If you only track the car I understand, but some of you guys are daily driving these things.
It's not like I don't get what you're saying, my FZ1 has 160 horsepower and I keep doing things to make it lighter, which is stupid in exactly the same kindof way |

I’m definitely giving up some of the joy of having a momentum car and being able to go full throttle everywhere. The plus side to that is I feel less of a need to push the car around turns when driving canyons in order to extract maximum enjoyment. I am happy to go a little slower around the blind turns in the canyons and enjoy the power and brakes in between turns which I actually think is safer. On the right tight road in 2nd gear the car stock is amazing and don’t think mine will necessarily be more fun for canyons. But the reason I built it is it’s a HELLUVA a lot more fun to drive just about everywhere else track, autoX and regular roads with TORQUE. Last edited by GrabTheWheel; 04-12-2019 at 10:10 PM. |

You should come out to 86 DRIVE Challenge (NorCal) or 86CUP (SoCal) track events when you're done! NorCal has a few V8 swaps already

There will be multiple stage traction control through MoTeC. I'm told I will be very impressed with how this functions compared to factory TC. I am determined to learn how to drive with no nannies but I'll start at autoX at lower speeds first.
