Or a radical upheaval in Street categories. It'll be a hard sell, but at some point decades old Civic's and Miata's won't be viable competition cars any more, unfortunately it'll be a legislative decision unless STS and ES numbers begin to seriously decline soon. |

Back on topic, this will be my first year doing (mostly) a full season. Hopefully I will do better than I did on Sunday. Gotta learn somehow!

I was over generalizing a bit as I get perturbed by the people that think autox'ing these cars is pointless and have no chance. Get Koni's/MCS, sway bar, RE71's, and a ton of seat time and go get 'em!

Unfortunately still on Primacy HP. Have some Hankook Ventus Evo2 street tires to out on but seems RE71Rs are the way to go for dedicated autocross tires. I do have a spare set of wheels to put them on too.

that said your Rival 2's and the V720's from Kumho will give you enar the same performance. they are all top tire rack tested tires me personally? unless you are competitive and want the best of the best of the best get the Federal 595 RS-RR. half the cost of an re71r and will last near the full season and get you 4/5ths the grip of the Potenza i run em for practice days where im more focusing on the chassis'd grip and my input than all out time attack |

I run a 225-40-18 on my 18x7s. nice flat sidewall too. you can run a 235 on your 7.5 rims. should you ned. no worries. 1010tires has a good visual calculator you can play with sizes to make sure you roverall diameter is close to what you have now. or if yo uwant to go taller or shorter on sidewall. i think a standard wide rim is 225 45 17? |

The stock wheels are only 7" wide, but you can fit up to 245 on them. I like the feel of 225s which is what I run now, but I've run all four widths from 215-245 in CS/DS. Also, I'd stick to the Bridgestone RE71R or BFG Rival S 1.5. If you're really on a budget, go for the Federals.

For starters, I would do autox tires first with the oem crash bolts ($10 or something) for max camber. Do the front sway bar after or at the same time and all the big game changer mods are done. About shocks, I found that the oem Showa are well up to task and even arguably better than Koni yellows (more compression than Koni).

I've got a set of 215/45 Falken Azenis 615K+ now and they are pretty nice. It's up there with the grippy boys, but since I daily the car with them I'd like them to last just a tad longer. So far it seems to be going well. Plus I love the tread pattern When I eventually get new tires I'll probably go 225/45 and maybe back to the Maxxis Victra VR1 which I had when I was setup for STX.
