I took off my wedding ring to wash the car. Lost it. I'm afraid I may have mixed it in with some paper towels I picked up and tossed.

I never take it off except to wash the car. Sometimes I forget until I hear it tap a panel. So pissed at myself.

I haven't had mine on my finger for 30 years. The wife has it packed away someplace. I can't wear it in the plants anyway so odds are it would have got lost years ago if I had put it on and off all the time.

We were visiting some friends about 15 years ago. I'm in the garage helping him work on his ATVs, and MomHawk is in the house doing whatever it is women do in these situations. I had placed my ring on my key chain so I wouldn't get it messed up/caught on anything while working on the ATVs, and left them laying on a towel on the trunk of our car. MomHawk and SparrowFriend (she was about that size) decided to go to the store hopped in the car and took off. The story is they got about a mile from the house, made a sharp left and heard something scrape across the back of the car. They both went "Huh, I wonder what that was?". Later neither one of them could remember exactly where it was, and the keys were lost forever. Fortunately it was just the car keys and my ring as it wasn't my main rat's nest of keys. Pretty much since then I haven't worn a ring, except a titanium one I bought for something like $14 that I wear on "dress up" days. My story is that since it isn't "the ring" just "a ring" it has no meaning to me and I have no need to wear it. She felt bad enough at first she let it go, then eventually she just got used to it.

My wife would not have felt bad at all since it would have been my "fault" for putting it on the trunk in the first place.

Yea, that's where the "if you had told me you were leaving I would have moved them" came in. Chicken and egg...

I bought a replica Lord of the Rings ring a couple of years ago on Amazon. I left it on my kitchen counter and was upstairs when my GF got to my house. she saw the ring on the counter, didn't notice the Evlish script in the language of Mordoor on it and proceeded to freak the hell out. I still laugh about it to this day.
