Avid Ascent and other choices for grip?

Hey ya'll. New to the tire game. (And still new to modding in general!) I'm not familiar with the different types of tires but I do know that PSS are good but they're way out of budget for me.

I'm thinking about upgrading tires now and was wondering if anyone had tried Avid Ascent in 225/45/17.

I've searched on the forums for Avid Ascent but to no avail.

If you guys have any experiences in the size I was talking about or something really grippy and around $120~ I'm all ears to listen to experiences.

Mostly using for street driving and spirited driving on backroads rather than track. I do want it to be All Season. I don't believe road noise is a big thing for me so that's no worry. Road comfort is something I prefer that's decent (doesn't have to be amazing) for city driving too.

I hope that's not too much of me to ask.

If you try searching Avid Ascend rather than Ascent you might get more hits.

If you want something really grippy you're probably want to be looking for a summer tire. Some cheap summer tires that come to mind are Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s and Federal 595SS.

Going off of Tirerack, the Ascend seems like a totally unremarkable 740 treadwear grand touring tire, which basically means it's the type of tire you put on your grandmother's Crown Vic, not a sports car. Undoubtedly worse performance-wise than the already terrible stock Primacys. Not particularly cheap, either.

If you absolutely have to have an all-season, the Michelin A/S3+ is probably the best on the market, and doesn't cost that much more than the Ascends. The Continental DWS06 is also pretty good and is virtually the exact same price as the Yokohamas. The BFG Comp-2 A/S is yet another decent option, and cheaper still.

I'll support a vote for the firestones, they're a legitimately good tire (sold as Bridgestone RE003 elsewhere in the world), but the federals are absolute pieces of junk. Down there with Nankang.

Other good cheap tires are the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2 (usually under $120, currently on my car), and the Falken Azensis FK510 ($101 on tire rack right now and probably my next set)
