Your cam actuators and ECUtek tuning ( help pls )
Was informed today while setting up my dyno tune day with PTUNING for my JDL kit that on 13-15 cars the cam actuators ( or something to that affect ) can malfunction and lock not allowing enough adjustment.
Consequently the car then isnt able to be fully tuned until they are all replaced. Anyone have any experience with this? The rep I spoke to said it's pretty random and about 1 out of 9 they tune have the issue. Trying to figure out if the one of nine just had a bad unit they neglected to replace ( I've heard it's happened before with some of our cars when new in the form of a CEL and poor power delivery ) or if it's a common issue when tuning and just an accepted risk. Any input highly appreciated. Just trying to figure out if I need to budget a few K for replacing them. This is all I could find searching the forums. Yep happened to my '15.
Replaced cam sensors. Replaced cam OCV (oil control valves). Replaced cam actuators/gears. Replaced Engine. Replaced Engine Harness. Replaced ECU. Nothing fixed the issue except going motec standalone m150. Car is a dedicated track car. I'd be even more disappointed/pissed off if my car was a daily driver.
