^probably because, unlike Toyota and Honda, Chevy sells a wide variety of other sports cars.

The only sports car Chevy makes aside from the Corvette is the Camaro. How is that considered a wide variety?

And it hasn't been showing up in camo for two years already.

I have to say, I have a sneaking suspicion I'm going to like this car in spite of myself. What I'm really hoping though is it comes in close enough to the price of a C7 to drive down the used market on those!

FIFY. Not all Camaros can really be called a sports car.

Fellas, let’s not get into the “sports car” definition argument. These days muscle cars, pony cars, roadsters, GT’s, hot hatches, sport sedans, etc, all get lumped into the sports car usage. Anything that has excellent power, handling and grip on the spectrum with all vehicles could be considered a sports car.

I don’t know if I agree that Chevy has a wide range of sports cars, but they had a decent range the last decade; they tend to throw a lot of LS motors in things. They had SS sport sedans and under Cadillac, luxury sport sedans. Cobalt SS, Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Sky, Impala SS, Chevy SS, Camaro, Pantiac GTO, Cadillac V-series, Corvette, and I’m probably leaving more out like Holden cars but yea.

But his comment was regarding cars that Chevy sells, not cars made by GM in the last decade.

My experience is not everyone distinguishes the two in conversation. Personally, I consider that GM sells only one Sports Car, the others are all something else, but in the broader vernacular many of the cars they sell fit into "sports car"

Chevy ss, impala ss, corvette (z06, zr1, etc) Camaro (1le, zl1, etc).... shit they even have a 6.2 option in trucks with a Brembo package that can make a hell of an SS successor.

Chevy SS isnt in production, from what I can tell the Impala no longer has SS option. You listed the Camaro and Corvette which is exactly what I stated in my original comment.

There are still some 17 ss out there new for sale, but correct it is no longer in production. The various trim levels of some of those cars make them so far beyond the normal vehicles seen they can pretty much be considered a different vehicle IMO.

GM as a whole has a lot of offerings though. Even in buick and cadillac.

Soon Toyota will have the Supra with 2 different engine options, the 86, a 'hot hatch' corolla, a new low priced sports car that has yet to be announced, the LC500, RC-F, and GS-F. Maybe not as many as GM, but still not bad when it comes to variety.

For which car? The Cobalt SS had a 2.0T that made 260hp, if I remember correctly, and the Solstice and Sky were Miata rivals. The others had more power than that, pretty sure.

Still doesnt make sense considering Toyota has made a variety of sports cars over the decades also (GT4, Mr2, Corolla XRS, AE86, 86, Celica GTS, Supra, LFA, IS-F, etc)
