Any solutions to overheating coilpacks?
What is the current thinking on how to avoid this problem at the track?
Would a front-mounted duct the directs airflow to that area help? Has anybody tried this? I'm running the Varis V2 hood, which has great ventilation but also a NACA duct between the 2 banks of vents. The airflow from this is directed down across the back of the engine, but I may be able to redirect airflow from there to the coilpacks. |

Even with a vented hood, the problem will not go away on early model cars.
These are much more durable, and have an added benefit of a stronger spark. https://www.counterspacegarage.com/i...set-ip-a149401 |

The dealer replaced my entire wiring harness under warranty, and that fixed my coil pack issues on my 2014 BRZ (it's been almost a full year and I've done more than a dozen track days since then, including ones where the temps got higher than 100F here in Texas).

Since I installed hood vents (trackspec) I haven't had the issue again on my '13.

Usually. I'd caveat my experience that I found it happened when it was a) a particularly high speed track, b) long sessions, c) pretty hot day. Since installing them I haven't had all three variables at the track.

I'm surprised no one has done a kit to replace our POS coils with cheap GM coils. |

The D585 with the heat sink seems like a good option and I see a bunch of brackets for the D585 on Amazon for $49. That actually gives you two brackets so you could sell off one of the brackets to recoup the expense. It’s just a matter of figuring out the wiring. Preferably in a plug in play way where you don’t have to splice into the original wiring. Having the coils remotely mounted would also be really nice for when one goes bad you don’t have to break your hands trying to fit them down in the original location. Something tells me the D585 wouldn’t have heat problems. |

Yet another good reason to trade in my MY13 with expired warranty...

I had read here that the revised 652 coilpack fixed the issue on the 13/14 cars. Is that not the case?
