Reminds me of a back-in-the-day story .....OK, what doesn't .....
It was a hot August day, back on the farm, and the crops had been laid by ......so, I had some free time to work on my built car. I had cleaned and gapped the spark plug, so I pulled er out on the paved road in front of the farm, to see how it ran. I had just got it wound up in high gear, when the steering wheel just spun around and the wheels stayed straight. Understand that the steering on my machine consisted of a steering wheel attached to piece of water pipe, that two lengths of 2x4 were attached to. An old (apparently rotten) piece of clothesline was wound around the box on the steer mechanism, and led through a couple of pulleys down to the front axle, which would turn when I turned the wheel (most of the time). Here I am, going full speed (maybe 30 MPH) going down a straight road when, you guessed it, a car came from the other direction ....... The steering rope apparently broke and I was out of control. What to do ..... I hit the brake ...... right? ....... wrong move! The hand brake only worked on the left rear wheel ...... which, when applied, pulled my machine off to the left ....... in the path of the oncoming car ....... Well, the other car slowed down and I zoomed off of the road into the ditch in front of it. The fellow stopped and ask me if I was OK. I was so embarrassed when I had to push my "car" back down the road into the barnyard ....... THE END humfrz |

wow that sucks. Glad you are ok and you figured out what happened.
But 2280 pounds! That is not much heavier than my Yaris. That is amazing. |

I am glad you are ok, and that the damage is non fatal.
Seems we are having a bad run recently. i blew my 3rd motor on the track and havent had the pleasure of my car since march 20.. at the end of the day its still cheaper than 5 years of payments for a 911 isnt it.. |

Anthony have you looked into this Chase Bays Brake Boost eliminator? Its hard to find info of anyone using it but it could save anywhere from 10-50lbs if you removed ABS according to the site. And the weight would come from that front driver side where you need to lose most.

What's next from here? what else can you do? Brake mod would be good, but Dry carbon doors are expensive. Swiss cheese?

My thoughts, exactly. You can't blame me by celebrating my victory with a fun little drive-right-into-a-pole. <3
I'm at the mercy of USAA, and so far, them dudes is dumb. So dumb, I installed a phone call recording app so that I might play back their self contradictions to themselves, that I might seem not as insane as I guess I have been - to them - lately. Y'ever seen the BME Pain Olympics? I can do a lot. Quote:

How did I miss this? Super glad you're ok. While typing, I just reviewed your signature quote. Disturbingly relevant.

Seems there is a string of bad luck for some of us lately. I reversed into a brick wall causing about 12k in damage.. total fuckup on my part, paniced while backing out and slammed throttle.. thankfully they are covering it.
