Hello

to be honest I've never bothered with an oil cooler on our dev car, most I've ever seen on circuit is 120deg C / 248F

Full synthetic oil breaks down at 150 degC so yes it will thin out before this and I'd agree UK weather temps are pretty cool compared to a lot of the world so its not really been an issue for us.
If I was to fit one I'd go for the OEM forester cooler to be honest as the water /oil type exchangers are very effective and can be mounted almost anywhere plus they tend not to overcool the oil and in cold weather will also help get it up to temp quicker

Does the low temp tstat have much of an effect on oil temps?

I had no issue getting the stock car to 140C in the summer here in the UK, takes about 15minutes.

I've found that it runs mine cooler during day to day usage. How that translates on track though I have no idea.

I'd be surprised if the Tsat had that much of an effect , 5 deg maybe?
Its probably that you are a bit more of a committed driver than me Ade

How much by?

When I installed the Tstat I did note that oil was in the 80Cs rather than 95C but never did any proper data logging.

My coolant sits very low when im just cruising at 75Mph on the motorway, ~74-75C in the summer which does not help oil to water coolers as theyll be over cooling in my experience, not as badly as oil to air obviously but still struggled to get oil above 80C.

Ive actually put a 93C thermostatic sandwich plate on with my Mocal oil to water and now oil stays in the low 80Cs in the winter and quickly gets to 95C+ when I use the loud pedal.

Sounds like you have the wrong thermostat. This happened to me when I installed stage 1.0. My car would never heat up properly and I didn't get much heat in the wintertime. The proper Cosworth stat is supposed to open at 169 degrees F. You can check it by heating a pot of water and measuring the temp, recording when the thermostat opens. My first one was much too low.

I contacted Cosworth and they sent me a replacement and now my car heats up to about 1/3 on the gauge and I have plenty of heat. If I remember correctly, the thermostat I originally had was for a Mitsubishi and it was shipped with the Cosworth package by mistake.

Here is the thread where I had the problem with the stat: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ght=thermostat

I did wonder but it does go up to 80C after some hard driving or even 90C (peak) on track.

Perhaps Matt can comment.

Generally though my water sits at 75-76C on the motorway.

Mine is a few years old. Bought and fitted in mid 2015.

What I'd like to make people aware of is we have a limited amount of kits that will be offered for sale, direct to the customer

whats on offer is the complete stage 2.0 kit with all parts required to convert your car to a supercharged version, including the air filter and thermostat that wasn't previously included
no exhaust is included and no ECUtek licence

we will however still provide a tune
the kit was previously £5,000+ VAT ( for those of you whom have to pay this)

its now £3600 + VAT so £4320 total or $5860 with VAT or $4895 without - shipping to US will be a on case by case basis
and the kit will still include a map but not a licence or ECUtek cable
please PM me if you are interested

Order placed and payment sent! Matt, Thanks!

All - Thanks for your help!

Matt,

Which air filters will fit the 2017+ kit? I recall the filter comes with the kit doesn't fit the 2017+ cars, right?

If yes, would these fit?

Do you have a 2.2 tune available? I am now considering this.

Both of those fit. I'm using the Blitz filter with my 1.3 tune and it's perfectly fine.

Matt made me a 2.2 tune back when I had my kit. I'm sure he can hook you up with one, too

Sorry Sam I don't know we've never had a 2017 car on site, I just know our old filter doesn't fit
