True story. Those tails gave me macular degeneration.

Roads are decently clear & salted, drove to work without an issue.

TLDR; Never trust weatherman nor weather forecast.

It's all relative. This would cause Atlanta to shut down all schools, most folks would either stay home or end up abandoning their cars on the freeway, and the Governor would call for a state of emergency until "the great white horror ends, or July, whichever comes first"

That amount of snow in the UK would be a major catastrophe! Cars abandoned, schools closed, people can't make work, major run on precooked meals from the supermarkets, bread and milk gone!! Snow stays for the best part of 2 days in which time someone has managed to decapitate themselves sledding and A&E gets clogged with young and old wanting flue jabs!!!

Oh no doubt it is all in perspective. Here if it gets over 80F we go into heat warnings. They tell everybody to stay inside and check on the old folks. If it goes over 85F then all the factories go on a heat break schedule where they get half an hour break for every half hour worked. Heaven forbid it hit 90F since at that point everything that is not air conditioned shuts down.

When I was in Germany they had the worst storm in decades. A whole 4 inches of snow fell over about 8 hours. It pretty much paralyzed the area. If you went as little as two hours north they would have 4 inches a day and think nothing of it. It was sort of funny to see. How prepared for the snow an area is makes all the difference in the world.

About 10years ago we had a big snow storm impacting our major airport (Heathrow). The airport operator was criticized for not being prepared as they cancelled loads of flights. Following this embarrassing episode, pressure from our Government and the public the operator invested in snowploughs etc and guess what? No decent snow since the investment.
