I have a ADR (Australian Design Rules) and engineer approved crash beam in the works. Not done yet but it has been done before via a different supplier (I'm led to believe). It adds about 40% more airflow. But I agree, unless it complies with ADR rules and is engineer approved I would not put it on.

Are you getting this built just for yourself? Any chance of it being produced for others to purchase? I am really interested in this.

Also for reference, I am N/A. At a Wakefield track day, it was sunny and 37 Celsius. I have a completely stock radiator, but I do run a HKS Type S Oil cooler behind my fog light. Still had my fog light installed so air flow could definitely be improved. Oil temps peaked at 113 Celsius and constantly around the 108-112 area. Coolant max was 101.

I did also measure my temps on a cruise I did on the road. From memory it was about 33 Celsius on a sunny day. Oil was on high 80s but by water temp in grid lock traffic did peak in high 90s when stationary. As soon as I would drive, it dropped back into the mid to high 80s.

i think i am going to need to punch out one of my fog lights and move my oil cooler after reading all this.. i am not monitoring water temp beyond the default gauge.. i also have mishimoto oil cooler, mishimoto radiator.. i also only have 1 radiator fan.... and the oil cooler is sandwiched between radiator and intercooler.

Coolant temps were through the block, right? Whats the temp at the radiator? Is it even hot?

Maybe you need this:

Make sure your coolant system is properly bled. I have very similar mods to you, running e85, borg warner 7163, 1050x injectors, walbro 485, pwr radiator, samco radiator hoses, sti 1.3 bar radiator cap, full 3inch exhaust no cat, vented hood and i have no issues in the heat in Melbourne's 40 degree heat after i went e85. Only difference is i'm not running an oil cooler compared to you. What oil are you using? My oil pressures and temps stablised a lot better once i switched to 300v chrono 10w40

one other thing to say is have you verified the temps with a thermal probe?

as a duff coolant sensor could be having you away here

Have you rung Coyote tuning in Brisbane and asked them if this is normal for their kit?

Definantly not normal for there kit. Been using it on a built engine for over a year now and daily driving with start stop/quick boosts here and there and its no where near getting to those temps dont think it even breaks into 90's.

Oil temps I cant monitor just yet gauge will be set up shortly.

But Intake Temps daily driving with bursts here and there I dont go over 5c of the ambient temp.

I would shoot Coyoda a message if I was you maybe they can give you a hand troubleshooting. Or message Tony/Alan directly.

motec had the vehicle speed fan shut off too low, at least they did in their first firmware release. I thought i had lifted a head because the car would overheat driving around, but be perfectly fine sitting at idle for any amount of time.

Yes. It was 80km/h and i found temps climbing during 100km/h cruise. I set it to 120km/h and that problem went away.

I've spoken more with my tuner and the guys at Coyoda also. I have a track day this Thursday so I'll come back with more data after that. At a minimum I'll move the oil cooler to a fog light duct and then - if temps are too hot - get more radical.

I know of a car that has quite a few cooling mods and he's getting 80C at the track on the same turbo settup. But it's a lot of work....

If i can keep it under 105C I'd be happy, but lets see.

Whilst i want to get the temps as low as possible neither my tuner nor Coyoda have given me reason to panic. No guarantees, caveats etc etc but unless I'm seeing north of 115C I'm not going to back off during a track day. Coolant at 1.3bar over atmospheric will boil about 125-127C.

Looks like I have to go back to the drawing board with respect to cooling.

At 18C ambient I'd hit 115C water in about 1.5 hot laps and air intake temps of 75C. I think it is a combination of a) an unidentified problem and b) just not enough air flow. There is the intercooler, oil cooler, air conditioning condenser and radiator all one after each other.

Need an oil cooler on the Holinger sequential transmission too. May as well slap one on the diff whilst I'm at it - I'll be very much in the cooler lines & ducting fabrication mode!

So, I've :
- built some better ducting for the radiator with good sealing (long story but there was big air gaps)
- installed a transmission cooler
- built some ducting for the engine oil cooler

After a 25 minute hard track session at 27C ambient here are the max temps:

- Coolant 103.6C
- Engine oil - 118.1C
- Transmission - 83.6C
- Differential - 96.7C

I'm pretty happy with this. I'd like engine oil to be a little cooler just so I get some better oil pressure but it's OK. Using a 10w50 it keeps 50-55psi all the way past 8000rpm as a minimum. Might move to a 10w60.

I may install a small differential cooler. All the other temps were stable but the differential temp kept rising. No surprises there given then is no cooling at all. I have spare cooler lying around and the diff housing has the plugs for the plumbing, just need to find a suitable pump.
