Looking at getting RPF1s when my tires wear out (im at 24K but they have some life in them yet). I want to keep things lightweight and darty and i dont necessarily need massive grip so I dont want to go bigger on tires (225s are also a bit pricier i would expect). So basically just want better looking and lighter rims.

Obviously these will fit, but will i lose any of the fun of the stock handling by going up to 8" rims? Will stretched 215s wear much worse on 8" ?

Considering just sticking with 7" since im not planning on going bigger on tires. plus the extra protection on curb rash is nice.

I'd go with perhaps the conti extremecontact sports since they're quite a bit cheaper than michelin PSS and almost as good.

Handling is more affected by the tire than the wheel width. If more grip is what you consider fun, then no; you won't lose any fun.
Go to tire rack and read the tire spec. It will fit 7-8inch rim. Tire wear will be the same.
PSS are over priced and over rated.
You will be happy with the conti's.

With high performance summer tires, which tend to run a little wide, 215 on an 8" rim isn't even a stretch. The measured tread width of a 215/45-17 hankook rs3 or -4 for example is 7.7 inches. Ideally you have the rim slight wider than the tire as it reduces lateral movement of the casing.

Should i just go to the dealer to have the rims mounted, since they have to program the TPMS anyway? Or can other tire shops do this?

If you are swapping the tpms you do not need to reprogram. If you buy new tpms, some tire shops can reprogram them.

Enkei does have 17x7 and 17x7.5 RPF1s as well. Would be a better fit with the 215s.
