Personal happiness is an inside job. You need to learn to achieve it at nobody else's expense. As you get older it becomes easier

You don't... that's why you're unhappy in the first place. You just haven't realized it yet. Trust me... you will. It may take decades of unhappiness, but eventually you will.

Stop worrying about whether or not you are "happy," and just live your life and do nice things for other people. Miraculously, you'll find yourself feeling increasingly happy, content, and sleeping better.

I hope I've helped aware you....

For some reason, that part didn't appear when I originally replied. Points to you for being a little closer to the truth on this half. "As you get older, it becomes easier..." Yeah, kind of... I'd say more obvious, but not necessarily easier.

"An inside job.."... yes, if if you mean not relying on other people to do things that make you happy. If that's your modus operandi, you'll be miserable forever.

"...at nobody else's expense."... nope. Happiness is not achieved based on the absence of negative impact on others, it's achieved via POSITIVE impact on others. Personal happiness is achieved as soon as you stop focusing on personal happiness. That's not the same thing as abandoning personal goals; I've set some lofty goals for myself over the decades. Some of them, I've achieved, and felt a sense of accomplishment and occasionally even joy. Some of them, I've fallen short and felt inadequate, but used that feeling to either deepen my resolve or decide that maybe my goal was just unrealistic. I wouldn't equate ANY of that with happiness. The times in my life when I felt truly happy were ALL during times when I was helping others.

Owning a specific car never even remotely figured into the equation. I'm not saying I don't enjoy driving my FR-s, nor that I don't hope to eventually find a G-wagen I can afford... but I certainly don't tie any of those things into "happiness."

The Gt86 is one of the funnest cars I have ever driven (Once i put the supercharger in it was even better). Drive what makes you happy. In regards to the tuner comment, just don't make look it look tuner? but again, do what you like.

The only cars i've thought about trading it in for were a mustang (then I drove one and did not like it like I thought I would) and an Audi s5 v8 coup. Still need to test drive the Audi to see if I like it though. I love how it looks. I have a feeling it may feel to heavy again just like the mustang.

I think happiness is when perception of reality surpass expectations... if your expectations is always higher than whats going on you won't be happy regardless of how many people you help. Im not saying helping people doesn't bring warmth, and good feeling emotions. I just think your perception of life, and where or how you expect things to be is a big impact on your happiness. It's good to be ambitious in life as it helps you acheive things, but if you are never appreciative , and grateful you will never be satisfied with what you have. So as long as you always keep your expectations really high, and it doesn't come into fruition you will be miserable. Just my two cents.

Not professional ? ..... if you don't do outlandish mods ..... it sorta looks like a more expensive sports car.

Bad in snow ? With proper snow tires, no worse than any 2 WD car.

No kids yet. So why do you need a back seat..??

A manual in the city? After a while, shifting will become "automatic".

You had that car before..?? So what, I had an NC Miata before ..... that don't mean I won't get another Miata (roadster) (but first I would have to get a younger wife .... ).

What criticism did I get..? None, mrs humfrz said fine, "as long as I don't have to drive it and you don't trade my car in for it".

As far as your friends moving into sedans and SUV's and think they are maturing ..... IMHO, it's how you drive ..... not what you drive that shows maturity.

Don't let others wreck up your enjoying your new car ......

humfrz

I have two kids, I've never had any trouble taking both of them with me. Granted, My oldest is tall enough to sit in the front and my youngest is still in a car seat, but still.

I wouldn't want to take the whole family in it, but even that is doable. Besides which, usually when you have a family, the wife has a car you can take.

Mine has a mini van. Hell, it's harder to fit my kids in my pickup than my twin.
