So there are some questions about tunes and cables.

Once the dust is settled I plan on selling STG1 & STG2 Flashs.

With the flash cable they will cost $950 plus shipping. This will allow you to flash one of my staged flashes in the car and data log. No editing. Edit will come but not right now.

If your local and want a custom dyno / road tune - $750 - this does NOT include a cable. ( I do not suggest this )

If your local and want a custom dyno / road tune and want the cable included

$1,100

Some of you might want to wait for other tuning solutions - its understandable... But I promise you these other solutions aren't going to have things ecutek will have to offer.

Great thing about EcuTek BRZ software is its advanced ECU Recovery. If a flash fails or stops no problem - always recoverable- theres custom code in the ecu that ecutek wrote to allow this.

Anyways we are still far away before anything is released .

There are a bunch of ProTuners / Shops that want to get their hands on the software - this will have to happen first.

John = The man.

We put my car on the dyno yesterday and after plenty of precise adjustments car feels GREAT! Its crazy to see what John can do to an all motor car, not to mention the power delivery is much smoother. This was a huge step forward for the platform and hopefully with more hardware we can get maximize the potential of this car.

Thanks again John!

Ok so a few questions, I've spent some time reading all this and im still kinda fuzzy on the whole thing...
1) Exactly what benefits will come from EcuTek?
2) So i would have to buy the software and licence and do it my self? (in US)
3) Should I do this before or after I get a new exhaust?
4) How hard is it to do this?
5) Can i add mods after installing?
Sorry I'm new to all this...

I know this was asked before, but does the tune fix the dip that we have been seeing?

All very good questions -

1 - EcuTek is the only factory ECU tuning option right now.

2 - You could visit your local EcuTek dealer and have them tune you on the spot OR (and I suggest this) purchase a STG1 or STG2 tune with the ProECU Cable - leave it or have it tweaked via email.

Currently the EcuTek product is edit only via a ProTuner. As time goes by and any/all bugs are fixed the product will be made available to the end user. This is something that will take a while.

3. That's going to be up to you!

Personally if it was up to me the very first thing I would do is the flash.

My STG1 91 & 93 Octane Flash showed enough gain to make it worth the money.

Next week I will be making a STG2 flash.

4. To flash your car you will need a ProECU Cable from EcuTek. Other cables / software will NOT work. EcuTek's ProECU software only runs on Windows Based computers - or a MacBook running a VM of windows. Install the software and flash away. Flashing currently takes about 2-3 minutes.

5 - Yes you can mod after this. I haven't decided on whats going to happen if someone wants to go from STG1 --> STG2 flash / pricing wise.

I need to tune a STG2 car and see what kind of mapping difference there will be - if any.

I spent over 8 hours on the dyno the other night sorting that out...

I wasnt able to remove the hump.

I was able to make changes to the upper part of the HUMP.

I've made changes to both Inatke & Exhaust cam timing, timing, fueling - nothing worked.

Still have a lot more testing to do next week.

-John

No surprise you weren't able to up the torque in that area, but this ^^^ is good Will be very useful for people swapping out their intake/exhaust headers.

I had my doubts about tuning out the hump I'm in the same camp as others who feel like it is a tradeoff in order to get the low end torque the car does. Through part swaps and ECU tuning maybe the whole torque curve can be made flatter overall.

John,

Have you been able to identify any transitional phases located in the torque dip, I.E. cam timing, or swaping ignition maps, or the transition from port fuel injection and direct, to only direct?

I would imagine working only the fuel, and ignition timing maps will make it slightly better, but would decrease performance elsewhere (robbing Peter to pay Paul).
