If you have white, I would be cautious with the PPF, don't cheap out since it can start to stain or turn yellow over time. I hear Xpel is pretty good on UV resistance though, which is what I have.

RIP me, I have no idea what PPF or Xpel are.

Are those different kinds of opticoat or tint? o_O

@BigFatFlip do you mind giving me an estimate of how much it cost you to get it?

Don't base it off what he paid for his Focus RS. His car is so bulbous, round, and awkward, that I'm sure the installer increased the normal price.

Like that jerkface @Clipdat said, won't be the same as what I paid. I actually did Xpel on front bumper, hood, front fenders, door cups, runners and trunk, and opticoat everywhere else. It ran me almost a couple grand... looks really good but don't know if it was worth it...

Hahaha.

Well dang...

I mean to be honest, face-value the main benefit I've seen doing either is dealing with bird poop . That way it doesn't ruin the paint. But a good wash is usually good enough to clean that off anyway. So.. (shrug)

But is it really worth it just for that? haha.

Well, I did plan on getting back into rallyx since I'm much closer to a local event I used to frequent. Plus, a lot of my commuting is via farming roads with tons of rocks and debris, so I'm hoping it helps. I daily drove my BRZ and the front bumper was so chipped by the time I sold it 5 years later, I figured I'd give it a try. Only time will tell...

Quick question, anyone know any Enkei Distributors that still have RPF1s in 17x9 + 35mm (5x100!!) in the F1 Silver Color remaining? I understand that the wheels are discontinued, but it'd be cool to pick up a set brand new!

It's probably much smarter to get both, or at least one, right after buying the car, before it's gotten scratched or dinged.

But on the other hand they're both still pretty pricey to do, especially right after dropping like 15-25% of the price on the car for a downpayment lol.

Do all of you have them?

I am definitely doing the tint, though.
I'm a big fan of clear bra. Done it on 4 of my cars in one form or another. On the BRZ I recommend doing entire front bumper, and headlights. I opted not to do any on the hood. the shape of the bumper is such that I feel the cost/benefit is not there to do part or all of the hood. Still, it's expensive. I took my car to one of the best shops in the bay area to get it done (they typically do very high end cars) and it was $700ish.

Here is how I would suggest you decide whether its worth it to you. Take a look at the front of your current car, which presumably does not have clear bra. If you drive it any number of miles, you will surely find a number of rock chips and other damage on the front end. Does that bother you? Do you wish the front end looked like it did when it was new, or fairly close to it? If so, then clear bra is worth it. If you're OK with rock chips and cosmetic damage, then skip it. Yes with time the film can age, turn yellow, maybe even crack and peel but that is years down the line and it is removable. I have clear bra on my 10 year old Lexus that still looks good, albeit a little yellowed but in my mind not having the front end peppered with chips was worth it. Not everyone agrees on that.
