I was driving home from work and was directly behind a Silver Godzilla. We were both just barely getting on the freeway onramp when he slammed on his brakes. He just sat there for a good 10-15 seconds at a complete stop. Holding everyone back. (he might've been fiddling with the knobs and buttons to allow launch mode)
He then launched his car harder than I've ever seen in person and that car flew! The only problem was, there is a small uneven bump from cracked roads (poor road conditions where I live) right before the lane merges with the freeway. He hit it going at least 80mph and got enough lift that he almost lost control. Looked cool though. |

In Jacksonville, just added e85 along with the oft tune did all the ecu learning crap earlier...
So I went on a joy ride later on. While I was driving normally... for once.. I see shitty LED headlights behind me. The same car (old beat up slammed Honda, with typical fart can) pulls to my right and stays with me. Does the slowest flyby (with that amazing sound -_-). I got next to it and just revved to let him know "go ahead try it on" ![]() We both slowed down, he started first... in a mater of 5 seconds had at least 3 car lengths between, and yes he was trying lol Maybe I should start feeling bad that I always end up on this thread, or not

Not sure if just me but I only seem to get other 86's challenging on the road. Ok, maybe I instigate half the time, but it's hard to resist when it all ends in a few laughs and smiles at the next set of lights.

Was heading back to work from lunch and there is a decreasing radius turn almost 90 degrees to get onto the on ramp and behind me was an older Miata tailgating me driven by an unattractive woman
So i approach the corner in 3rd gear and take the turn aggressively (tires screeching but not too hard to kick the tail out and then i accelerate away on the straight to merge with the highway but i look in my rear view mirror and see the miata almost understeer off into the grass. i bet her butt hole clenched real tight at that moment haha Last edited by 86Boyz; 12-29-2016 at 06:37 PM. |

Every time I get challenged I come up with some ricer excuse like:
"I'm low on gas" "My clutch is going out" "I need an oil change" My VTAK isn't working"

Ha ha, reminds me what happened to me once on the on ramp onto I-395 express lanes once. So the ramp branches to the right off regular lanes, then it goes under the regular lanes and merges into the express lanes which run in the median of the roadway. That creates a left-right turn sequence followed by an uphill section where the merge lane is. I drove a Corolla then, so I took special care to take very good line through these two turns and carry as much speed as possible through them. Because the subsequent merge required accelerating from 50-55 to 70-75 uphill, and that wasn't the car's strongest point ;-). So once I was doing it on a slightly wet pavement, nice and smooth, left turn fast but not too much so I end up on the left, in good position to accelerate nicely through the right turn and up the hill. There was a small BMW behind me (I did not notice which model exactly in my rearview mirror), he apparently got pissed that he's behind a Corolla, probably floored it to soon still when in right turn, and oversteered almost into the barrier... though finally saved it. |

Driving home tonight from work, cruise controlling the speed limit in the right lane, here comes a semi-slammed late model WRX farting by, then slows down til I eventually get even with him at my still constant speed. Sat next to me for a good mile waiting for me to look over at him I guess, and eventually got tired of being ignored and took off in typical Subie farting fashion. I swear, sometimes I'm just minding my own business trying to commute, and every driver with a car known for even a modicum of performance feels the need to either flex with a fly-by or see if they can egg me into a pointless race. I have no illusions about how fast my car isn't in a straight line, thanks. Just lemme drive in peace.

Had a kid wearing an OBEY beanie, sitting in a primer black Civic with cut springs, an exhaust tip and a zip-tie fender job revving at me at a gas station like three days after buying mine. Other than that it's all been legit nice cars (including a wide bodied red 86) blipping the throttle and rolling on like a normal person.

*sigh* I remember when I was that kid with my Prelude. I was happy because I had a sporty little car for the first time in my life. I revved that car at everyone. Looking at it now, I was just another rice kid. But man, was I excited to have that car. Now that I'm older, I much prefer to just enjoy driving the car. Less showboating, for sure. I like to cut the Honda guys some slack. Not everyone can afford a car like ours, but they still want the camaraderie of owning a sports car. I don't really bust their chops until I see super expensive mods on a newer Civic Si. |
