That is not "old" nor "JDM".
Pretty sure he meant an actual JDM car not a USEM car with a bunch of JDM parts slapped on it that so many like to call JDM.

You can actually get 260z/280z for reasonable prices. I actually prefer the tail lights for the 280/260 over the 240. Purists will tell you 240 is the only way to go, that it's lighter and better. Honestly, it's no biggie. They all have old, worn chasis at this point. I would prefer the 280/ late 260 because the trans tunnel is bigger. thus, swaps are easier if you ever go that route. Plus, I always wanted to buy a turbo 280zx (people sell them CHEAP AS SHIT here) and swap the L28et in. If you had a carbed motor, there's a little wiring to deal with, but its not bad. Mounts work, trans are pretty interchangable, etc. Easiest swap ever and you end up with a turbo. I actually sold mine back to the guy I bought it from. He used a lot of parts from it to work on his rb25det 280z he has now. It's beautfiul. Also, the Z's are great because of the inline six. Rev to high hell, even with carbs, and take every bit of abuse you throw at it. I don't know how mine never popped. I honestly think it's one of your best bets, but let me think for a bit of another option for you. Quote:

I've read that MY 76 (or was it 78?) was the one to get because they dialed in the suspension. Might be a moot point if it was just damping and spring rates because that can all be replicated with aftermarket parts.

That'd be funny if you zoomed out and it was a display on a janky instrument panel.

What I do know is that owning a 260z is a biiiiiitch because some had 240 parts in places where others had 280 parts, or what would become 280 parts. Things liks the matting over the trans tunnel, size of the trans tunnel, lights, etc can be different. Even the suspenion changed over that year a bit, I think
