Man you guys get screwed with the mono-spec 86 in the US. In Australia we get the two grades with the higher spec gaining the interior/gauges of the BRZ. That said though the price goes up a fair whack for the top spec

Next year they will do better by us. Thank Scion for the whole Monospec thing. Although the guys that think they will get a full house 86 for Scion prices may be in for a surprise.

It just occurred to me... there isn't a badge for the 86? (where 'FR-S' once was)

Nice review, thanks! By the way, you can find nice twisty roads in DC area too, Not sure about MD, but in VA try Henderson Rd/Yates Ford Rd between Springfield/Burke and Manassas, or Bellview Rd in Great Falls area. You probably won't reach 70 there but still it's fun.

I personally prefer it this way it adds to the mystery to the average person of what the car is.

2017 Toyota 86

Thank you!
GLOL at yet another US car reviewer mentioning the lack of armrest and the manual HVAC controls as a negative in a... sports car.

The only badges on the outside if the car are the Toyota emblems for front and rear, a new circular '86' badge on the front fenders and the '86' logos embossed on the headlights.

I believe the TRD wheels in the review are around 3-3.5lbs lighter each vs stock. And they are forged.

another thing i noticed about the new engine, and i drove it about 6-10 miles, is that it's much cooler than the zenki. i revved the engine up beyond 6k so i wasn't babying it.

i was interested in the forged wheels until i discovered i can get 17x9 wheels forged for more than a pound less weight. i guess not all forging is the same.

on a side note, my jdm enkei made sti wheels 17x7.5 weigh about the same as the forged wheels.

You're right. A typical one piece 17x7 forged wheel would be in the 16 lbs range. 17.4 lbs is certainly on the heavy side. I have my suspicions they aren't fully forged wheels (cost being the other red flag here), but I'd curious to know who made the wheel/see the manufacturing stamps on the wheel.
