So around 20k miles (like most with this issue) clutch started squeaking, and has progressively gotten worse. I can feel slight crunchiness in end of pedal travel, and it's now happening with car on and off, usually starts after driving for a while. No abnormal TOB squealing or high pitch noises, just this creaking noise:
Dry clutch fork? Or throwout bearing binding on transmission snout? Dreading taking my car to the dealer. [ame]http://youtu.be/hQnkycC_6fQ[/ame] @Ultramaroon |

However, it could be the shaft from the slave cylinder making that sound, which can be lubricated - see discussed methods). I suppose it could be the fingers on the pressure plate .. ?? If our cars have a clutch return spring (a little help here @Ultramaroon), I would place that as the #1 suspect. Good clear video .... humfrz |

It isn't the clutch return spring. If you have someone depress the clutch while you look under the hood, you'll be able to pinpoint where the noise is coming from.
I got my entire clutch assembly replaced due to this noise, but I think it's already coming back less than 1,000 miles later, so maybe it is just a lack of grease on the clutch fork shaft thing. |

When they drop the transmission make sure they don't just dab grease in there. That snout needs to be fully cleaned. If it is worn or scored, it must be replaced.

Something about the clutch mechanism, the materials, the lubricant, something is critically flawed. I think they should lengthen the bushing on the TOB to better prevent binding when it starts to wear. Maybe the specified lubricant sucks. Maybe the bell housing ventilation blows dust from the disk in just the wrong way. So much to consider.

Mine is still ok after about 5000 miles but I don't expect it to last forever.

Show them the crunch now. Less than 1000 miles? I'd be furious.

I'm not furious because they didn't seem to know what the issue was the first time around, so they just replaced all the clutch stuff hoping that would fix it. Everyone gets a "chance" to fix something as far as I am concerned, and since the replacements they made did solve the problem initially, I don't blame them. The crunch doesn't always happen yet, but as soon as it becomes persistent I'll look into bringing the car in (my schedule is so busy lately it's hard to coordinate that stuff) and hopefully they will take a deeper look at things.
