Lowering springs install
I'm looking for a reasonable $$$$ shop to install lowering springs in New Jersey. I have been to 2 shops including Krazy House and they cost is crazy over $1,000. Does anyone have a recommendation? I appreciate the help. Thank you.

Check out AZPinstalls. I have yet to work with these guys since I am still deployed. but I have heard nothing but amazing reviews from them. I already have plans to have them do my whole suspension upgrade with my FRS and they have been very helpful with what im looking into getting for daily and track set ups. |

Just to give you a point of reference. Brady @Pure Automotive installed my RCE yellows, SPC lower control arms and crash bolts (I supplied the parts) for about tree fiddy. Actually, it was exactly $350.00. |

It did include the 4 wheel alignment but that wasn't the only shop 3 others quoted the same. They look it up in their pricing computer and it states 8 hr installation. Very disappointed.

Uh wow you guys are fast! Takes me around 3 hours taking my time:
- pull car up on blocks (ok it's already lowered, just swapped coilovers) - jack car up - place jack stands, lower car, re-snug jack - remove front tires - unhook clips, lines, sway links - unbolt knuckle, unbolt top, remove struts - replace, bolt up, clip, attempt very rough ballpark camber - re-torque everything to spec - replace wheels & lugs, raise, remove stands, lower for tire contact, torque lugs, lower all the way - back off boards - repeat everything for the rear and that's not actually replacing the springs (though I do spend a little time playing with ride height). No way I could do all that in < 2 hours, what am I doing wrong? |

If you're only changing springs, not struts or coilovers, you only need to unbolt the top nut, the brake line clip, and the swaybar nut. The springs are on so little static load that you can unbolt the nut and let the spring decompress as you raise the car. You just need to be careful fishing it out of the fender. The only special tools needed are a pass-through socket set and long allen wrenches.
DIYs: DarrenDriven's very comprehensive strut remove/replace DIY http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10842 Jeebus' simpler spring remove/replace DIY (builds off of Darren's) http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32414 Read both in their entirety before attempting. There is good info all through both threads. Example: |
