I rolled out of Alameda at 8am and drove Grizzy Peak, Pinehurst, Redwood, Palomares, and Mines again on Saturday morning.

All roads up until Mines were pretty clear with the exception of Grizzly Peak which had a pack of about 10 wild turkeys on it. That was an unexpected surprise! They really didn't want to move out of MY way, how dare I inconvenience their morning ritual of slowly meandering about!

Anyway, got to The Junction around 10:20am and ordered a burger like I did last week. On the menu it states all burgers cooked medium, but like last week it was cooked well done again. Strange. I guess next time I should actually specify medium rare?

Left The Junction about an hour later en route to The Racers Line to meet up with my buddy who was having a fluid change done there at 2pm. On my way back up, I ended up being the first car upon a motorcycle accident caused by a gravel patch. This was literally the only gravel patch on Mines and unfortunately this guy went down on it. It was on a tight double S curve downward section and of course I'm flying like a bat of out hell and come around the corner to suddenly see a woman waving her hands in the road standing next to a downed bike and yelling SLOW DOWN at the top of her lungs at me.

I came to a stop about 50ft past the scene and see in my rear view mirror the crashed rider sitting slumped over on the side of the road. I tried unsuccessfully to get a cell phone signal (assuming the worst just based on what I saw) and wasn't able to, so I pulled off at small area up ahead and ran back to where she was standing.

I realized her husband had lowside crashed and she said she couldn't lift the bike on her own, so I helped her get the Ducati out of the lane and onto the shoulder. After moving the bike, he got up and came over to inspect the bike. I was happy to see him walking around and determined that he was just shaken up/cut/bruised from the crash!

Anyway, he eventually got the bike to start and decided that he could ride it out and to the dealership in Livermore. I got back on the road and took it easy the rest of the way back! Glad it wasn't more serious - looks like his riding gear took the damage for him and the bike just had about $1-2k of superficial damage.

So, just a reminder to always keep your wits on Mines because you never know what is around that next corner that you might see! Stay safe guys!

thoughts on route for the July 9 drive? should we do the Gizdich Ranch Pie Run early this year?
No Gizdich on 7/9 cuz I'm gonna be hella tired that day and don't want to miss it. Consider it an Executive Order haha

I though I saw you driving to the Racers Line on Saturday! I was there getting some beer at Epidemic Ales and saw you pulling in when we were leaving. Wasn't in the BRZ so figured you wouldn't see us.

Hah, nice! Yeah, I like their Nightshade stout but most of their other beers aren't that impressive to me.

I like the brown ale. I'm on a quest to try every brown ale in existence and I think theirs is pretty good.

I think I can make the drive this Saturday. I will keep up with the thread and see if it pans out. I'm up to about 800 miles on the RS2.0, and I am ready to take it past 4000RPM once I pass the 1k mark on the odo. This could be a good run before its first oil change!

I saw an auto at Modesto and fell in love with the exterior color, the camel leather inserts, and they got me with the exclusivity (I'm such a sucker).

With the Supra now painted Hot Lava, I could let go of the original FR-S and hunt out the new one.

Now trying to figure out what/how to paint protect, tint, and get some miles on the RS2.0, Tsuki!

Someone reminded me that Canepa's Cars and Coffee will be this Saturday morning. I know we just did a cars & coffee type thing last week, but would people be interested in cruising down to that this weekend?

http://canepa.com/canepa-cars-coffee-returns-for-2016/

Potentially, one route would be to meet up at Alice's or somewhere in the Peninsula, then cruise down to Scotts Valley for C&C?

Oh man I really want to go to this, I saw someone post pictures from the last Canepa C&C on Jalopnik, some amazing stuff there. I think the last time we went was like 3 years ago??

I'm inclined to rate Canepa's C&C higher than Blackhawk
In addition to the noteworthy rides that show up, Bruce has an impressive display of his own and an open shop.
Last time there he fired up and drove the Can Am Porsche.
