I installed the innovate/sprintex kit recently. $4500 out the door for kit, labor, and dyno tune. 210 non-intercooled. made 200 hp to the wheels with the 80mm pulley it comes with now. I daily mine and love it.

Noob turbo question.
I've noticed quite a few people who are running 300whp turbo kits, with no engine work done. Previously I'd been looking at supercharger kits where I've heard that anything over 260whp is risking the engine internals. Are turbo kits different because the setup reaches peak efficiency later in the rpm range, or are the people I'm seeing with turbo kits generally throwing caution to the wind? |

2) SC have parasitic loss and make less power with the same amount of "boost" 3) a centrifugal SC will reach peak efficiency late so that's not necessarily the case 4) it all comes down to fuel and and tuning. 300whp on 91 is completely different than 300whp on E85 5) boosting a non turbo car without engine work is always a risk. |

Agree with all these points but would also add that it's likely a turbo is riskier because they can "add boost" low down and fairly sharply. IMO the 1 really great thing with any SC is the relatively simple installation and setup vs turbo options too.

So for turbos that aren't CARB compliant. How do you guys get around emissions testing?

Pay someone to oversee it or sell the car before 5 years. I suppose if you have a friend/family at a prior residence you could keep it registered in a non emission regulated state
