Hey Everyone, its that time of the year again;

Yo, I entered and paid months ago.
Why haven't you guys entered yet???

OK, it wasn't months ago.
I was just a few weeks ago, but it's going to be an amazing event - get yourself there!!

Enter now!!
If you've never been on a racetrack before, this is your bestest opportunity to do it safely because there will be classes for beginners, and experienced drivers there to help you out.

Maybe it wasn't weeks ago, but it was a few days ago...

Got my Reg Form and Proof of payment through

Petrolheads For Pets 2015 (25/7/2015) played a fundamental role in my ‘motorsport’ life,

As much as I love ‘Pets’, I would not have considered myself a ‘Petrolhead’ a year ago,

I was hesitant, and scared of damaging my car,

I ended up coming out because I was encouraged by others on this forum to attend,

P4P 2015, was an incredible experience,
I’m not saying this to promote this event, I have evidence... (read on )

25 July 2015 - I shivered my ass off on the day (with the cold temps and nervousness), and got to do my FIRST track day.

I enjoyed the environment as a newbie;
I was put in a class which had FIRST timers,
There were experienced drivers on hand which were approachable for coaching and driving / safety tips.

It was raining a little, which made it better (In my selfish opinion) because it eliminated some pressure to go fast, and everyone drove ‘safely’ at their own pace,

I also got the privilege to donate an extra R100 to the ‘Pets’ and go on a few HOT LAPS with @Fish Eagle

HOLY MOLY!!, that’s when it hit me, the ‘Petrolhead’ addiction,

Since that moment (The adrenaline and experience in Fish Eagles car),
I was inspired to explore the motorsport / ‘petrolhead’ lifestyle.

I have done 7 Track days since the P4P 2015 event, and I am addicted.

Driving the 86 as a daily driver (which I do), is ‘fun’,
But driving the 86 on a track, and experiencing the explicit driving dynamics is something beyond your imagination if you haven’t done a track event before.

Here’s my track/'petrolhead' history and what I plan to achieve in a 1 year cycle
(July 2015 to July 2016)

1 25/07/2015 Redstar C P4P 2015
2 16/08/2016 Zwartkops SuperTrax
3 11/10/2016 Zwartkops SuperTrax
4 1/11/2016 Zwartkops SuperTrax
5 6/12/2016 Zwartkops SuperTrax
6 28/2/2016 Zwartkops Michelin Cup
7 25/03/2016 Redstar CC Open Track day
8 1/5/2016 VKC Michelin Cup
9 25/06/2016 Redstar CC P4P 2016
10 16/07/2016 Redstar C Michelin Cup

I hope that you consider attending this event,

If you are an experienced racer
(As @Fish Eagle would say,
“Bring it on”
(in the Intermediate / Advanced classes ), and

If you have never done a track event before, cease the opportunity,

Even if you don’t care about helping pets, or yourself, do it for your 86(and maybe the pets lol),
Your 86 deserves to be driven on Track.
It's like locking a dog in a cage for years (period you are driving on the road), and when you take it track, it runs free and will give you happiness and joy!

I leave you with a quote while you go and fill in your registration form and make your EFT:

“On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.”

Wow, I'm humbled and blushing now, but I do remember you going "oh-oh-oh" with wide eyes when I did some late braking that day. Ha-ha!!
It seems so long ago, but it wasn't even a year back...

But now, you're quick, very quick!! Well done!!
I've watched you, and seen the lap times you're doing - well done, and enjoy, just be careful.
When your confidence level exceeds your skill level, then you're at risk..

OK, don't be careful at P4P, because Red Star is safe and there's nothing to hit - LOL.

I'm so pleased that I was a part of opening your eyes how to enjoy your 86 safely, and what an amazing car it is when you get it onto a racetrack!!

PS: What the humble man @FT_86_SM_GP didn't say is that he won his class in the Michelin Cup Challenge at Zwartkops in February - now how's that!!

I'm looking forward to racing against you on Sunday - bring it on!!

It won't be about power - it'll be be about what you can do with your tool. (read car)
Or whether you're a tool - ha-ha!!

Awesome quote

I was apparently the second entry for P4P 2016. I'll leave it up to y'all to guess who was first

P4P 2015 was also my first track day. I was also nervous, and spent a lot of time mentally preparing myself and technically preparing the car. Going out on track the first time.... WHAT A THRILL. Just being on a racetrack is an awesome experience by itself! From when the session starts, to pulling back into the pits, is like being transported into another world where the chains come off and it's just you and the car. There's this magical place called "The Zone", and a good session with high concentration can really take you there.

If you're in doubt about signing up - embrace this event because it really is the most beginner friendly vibe I've experienced at the track! It's not about going fast, it's about the freedom!

This is for the "first-timers" and "fence-sitters".
I posted it a few weeks ago in another thread.

If you've never taken your car onto a racetrack before, and you'd like to put your toe in the water, then the Petrolheads event will be the one for you. It's non-competitive, there'll be classes based on driver experience, and there'll be seasoned drivers available to help novices.

Consider the following:
- all the traffic is going in the same direction
- all going roughly at the same speed
- the road is mega-wide, because you can use it all and it's like 3+ cars wide
- no taxis
- no pedestrians
- no drunks
- no hard kerbs
- no intersections
- no trees, signs, or sidewalks
- no speed limits
- no speed traps
- no traffic cops
- no potholes
- no robots
- no jumping red lights
- no distractions
- ambulance and paramedics out next to the track on standby
- fire engine manned and on standby
- experienced track controller and marshals watching you.
- if the poop hits the fan they'll see it immediately, and be there for you.

- the others around you are (mostly) experienced and competent drivers
- they're all respectful
- full of cameraderie
- share the same interests
- and inevitably become friends

And there's only one person who decides how fast you go, and how much risk you take - that's YOU

Just do it!!
It'll be a wonderful experience.
And of course, it's all for a good cause too!!

Here's a map of the track, anti-clockwise which is probably what it'll be then...

What I'm wondering is how 20+ 86 drivers popped out of the woodwork last year @_@. We need to make this another 86 dominated event!!

Lol, I don't think I beat you,

You did not have the correct tyres on, and still managed to do 1m2sec,

While your competitor (BMW 135iM) did a slower time then you clockwise,
Once he called his wife to pack his Potenza RE011's and drive to VKC
(He is one lucky man lol),

He dropped his time by +2/3 secs going Anti clockwise.

Anti clockwise was harder, and +-80 percent of people had slower times on the counterclockwise circuit,

So I reckon if you had your Potenza RE011's on you would have had 58sec laps

Kind words - but "could", "would", and "should" are all dreams, it's "did" that counts

And mate, you sure "did" it!!
Enjoy feeling good about getting it right
