Really? I roll up to lights in 2nd below 20-25mph lets you accelerate away much faster than lugging out in 3rd. 1st gear downshift isnt necessary but i still do it to keep car rolling to stop if space allows' particularly when traffic is inching up. Only way i would stop in 3rd is an abrupt stop, like going 40 mph and light turns yellow but car in front stops short.

Ya this is where the conversation always gets tricky because both the statement and the interpretation can be taken as absolutes. To be specific I roll up clutch in but in 3rd if I know that I am going to have to actually come to a full stop. I have not lugged a car in 30 years now. If there is a chance the light will change, the person turning will be out of the way, the old lady crossing the street will be on the curb, etc and I may get to keep moving then yes I would down shift to 2nd.

People will argue (modern engines blah blah) but I've always sweated oil pressure down low. Lifelong habit of feathering the throttle until about 2 KRPM. This one is no exception.

Is it just me or is a bit difficult to have the heel touch the accelerator on this car? I have tried learning this on this car but I cant seem to reach over enough to properly heel toe. lol

With this pedal configuration it is more like "Toe-Toe" than Heel-Toe.

My foot isnt very wide and I never felt like i had positive control with the stock pedals.
I bought the SRP racing gas pedal only and it makes it much easier to bridge the gap.

My other car has a gas pedal that hinges from the bottom so that is definitely a heel stab configuration.

ive seen it two different ways. I couldnt for life of me modulate the brake correctly with my right foot heel and right foot toe on the gas. its much smoother using ball of foot like normal and stabbing the gas with my heel. ive got the cusco pedal extender as well. i figure being on the brake correctly wayyy more important than being on the gas and flubbing the brake taking you into the other lane of traffic.

when coming to a light while going straight, even though im not actively downshifting a gear nor intending to turn i blip the throttle, just to practice stabbing. ive found not all my shoes perform the same. like mentioned prior it rarely is required for everyday driving, but its fun to get it right.
