Dilemma. Need your advice

so I'm getting a deck built. I've narrowed it down to 2 contractors

1. Guy is a carpenter by trade and has a lot of experience. He does very nice work but more expensive. I know his quality of work would be amazing.

2. Guy is a paramedic but waning to start a deck building business. Doesn't have a huge portfolio yet but is working towards it. Willing to work closer to our budget. He would be about $800 cheaper or more.

1.

I know, it would be nice to pay less and to help the new guy build a portfolio, but it's you who is risking ending up with a crappy deck that will require re-building in 5 years.

Hire the new guy if you have something smaller and cheaper to build.

BTW, you know you posted in "automotive" secion, shouldn't it go to "off-topic"?

I would defiantly pay a little more and get it done right. A lady hired some guy to do her deck and he got arrested half way through it. He did a shit job and we had to redo a lot of the work. Pay a little more now or potentially pay alot more later
