lol at "spend all that effort trying to read", like it's a huge chore to read text on a screen.

Just fucking get used to the subs. The Japanese voice actors are great and the voices sound perfect for the different characters, especially if you watch with headphones.
I hate reading, hell I even hate reading on here, thats why I always ask for a TL;DR. Do you think you can do a to long didn't read for a few episodes for me?

I guess if you really don't want to watch subtitled episodes you could just read the descriptions of the episode like this http://fairytail.wikia.com/wiki/Episode_8

Welcome to anime dubs.

You can either learn Japanese or watch the subs.

Or you can wait until its fully dubbed, picking up another series in the mean time. If you really want some laughs and raunchy humor, click the link below for some funny clips from an anime where the dubbers gave no fucks. I highly recommend watching the whole series.

I can't stand subs. I don't want to read, I want to watch. It takes away from the"show"

Its honestly not that hard to read and watch at the same time while still being able to comprehend whats going on. Been doing it for years now. Thats just me though. Granted, I can't do anything else while watching.

If I only watched dubbed series, I would have missed out on many of my favorites and other series that may never get dubbed due to not being mainstream enough to generate revenue or just simply no interest.

(I watched Bleach dubbed for about 150 episodes, then got frustrated waiting for more to be released. Switched over and never looked back).

Subs is the only way to watch anime imo, in the dubs you cant get the full feel of the voice inflections, and the expression/emotion/action icons over their heads.
I have been watching anime for a long time and the thing that tics me off is when you hear them speaking and when you read the subs and you know they flipped the sentence structure around or the translation is off.

They have to do that to make the mouth flaps and the talking match up. Otherwise the sound and image wouldn't match and that would be awful

I'm another sub watcher. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I missed any visuals because I was "too busy" reading. Now, when two people talk at once and they have the subs at the top and bottom of the screen it can get tricky, but it actually teaches you to read faster. Also, while I don't understand Japanese, it feels like what they're saying makes perfect sense, even though I know if anyone is around they can hear it and are thinking, "What the hell is he watching?" It has taught me minor phrases though.

There are three shows I watch dubbed because I grew up with them that way. They are Dragonball Z, Trigun, and Outlaw Star. I tried DBZ and Outlaw Star in Japanese once and I thought the voice actors for Goku and Gene didn't fit at all haha. Other than that, I agree with what others have said. The Japanese voice actors have so much emotion in what they say and how they say it. You'll never get the hisses, growls, grunts or pain and frustration that you get out of the Japanese from English actors.

Unfortunately, the rest of my family think I'm watching porn all day long.

Don't feel like spending money on headphones so I use speakers.

Watching sub/dub really depends on the show, but I generally prefer subtitles. Certain shows you really have to watch English dubbed though... For Cowboy Bebop or Daiguard, the English dub is what absolutely makes the show.

Then there are certain shows where subtitled is the only way to go...Birdy the Mighty ovas (English dub is absolutely one of the worst ever done), Patlabor, and You're Under Arrest are the ones that immedately come to mind.

Then there are those that can go either way and it doesn't really matter...Ghost in the Shell, Black Lagoon, Ergo Proxy, BECK, and Trigun would be a few such examples.

I don't know how y'all watched ERASED week by week. These cliffhanger endings would probably drive me insane.

Now that Winter season is almost over, I'm binge watching it.

Name: Tomoko Kuroki
Series: WataMote

Positives:
+ very... amusing character
+ has the potential to look cute

Negatives:
- annoying
- probably unhygienic
- no knowledge of social norms
- really fucking strange in general

Final rating: D (however, a very well-written character nonetheless)

I watched till ep 6 then stopped. Just watched 7-11 last night and that episode 11 ending...arrggg. Come on ep 12!

I binge watched Knights of Sidonia Sunday evening/Monday morning...all 24 episodes. Really enjoyed the series (had been wanting to see it ever since it was put out) even though I would have rather watched it subbed.

Love Erased I feel the same way I get really into the show and then it leaves you hanging. I like the show so much I got the opening song as my ringtone (Asian Kung fu Generation)

Dimension W is another show I have been enjoying and I hope Heavy Objects did not end and there is one episode left

Waiting for April though looks like alot of new shows coming up that look interesting

Also with the Dub Vs. Sub topic here is a video that will show you the difference for sure. I am not sure how to convert a video from Facebook to the forums but here is the link and you can tell the difference for sure lol.
