Clunking noise coming from the back
So ever since I replaced my tires with michelin primacy tires and installed wheel locks, I have had a clunking noise coming from the back. Every time I'm going 5-15 mph, I keep hearing the noise, especially when I'm going over uneven surfaces. When the car jerks a little, shifting gears, I hear it, but its even louder when I'm going over uneven surfaces or making a turn. Anyone else have this problem as well?

The first thing I would do would be to re-torque all the lug nuts (the wheel locking lugs should be the first ones off and the last ones on). Next I would suggest you check in the trunk to make sure the jack and any other stuff is secured. If that doesn't fix it, I'd suggest you take it back to the shop that changed out your tires and have then take a look see. humfrz |

In addition to what @humfrz said it could also be a loose axle nut, they are made of soft material and can slip and deform over time, re-torque can solve the noise for a time but new nuts are cheap, the trick is that it's a 32mm so odds are you don't have that socket lying around.

Thanks for the links.
I did a bit of researching online and found that a bad ball joint may be causing the issue. Quote:
Going to the dealer on Saturday to check(or replace) the axle nut since its covered under powertrain warranty. |

I test drove a Certified Used Scion FRS at my dealership to replicate noises. It had a clunking in the back, it was because of a blown shock.
Note my words...Certified... They would only replace it once a customer buys it and complains.

Reason being is that way they can do it under warranty. I work for a dealership I know how it works haha. If the dealership owns the car and they miss it on the first inspection then they have to wait for a customer to buy it and complain other wise they won't get warranty money for it. A lot of. Batteries go on the lot in new cars where I work and we have to wait till a customer buys it before we can put a new battery in and deliver the car/truck. Its really stupid if you ask me.
