i've seen some one try to put 18x9.5 +40 on stock struts with a 245 tire. needed a 5mm spacer just to not rub on the inside with almost no camber because couldn't run more than 1-ish due to clearance. it also poked like crazy...

you can potentially fit it by going to a top hat and pulling max camber at the top hat, but still i don't think it will be enough clearance. just doesn't make sense. you can run a 9 all around though and a 245 all around! thats plenty of tire for a street car and even for modest track use!

So you dont think a 18x9.5 +35 with 265 will work up front?

Yep on stock struts.

Im okay with the poke (for now). I just dont inside tire rub.

Im thinking with that offset I may get away with it. After test fitting the rims there was an additional few mm of clearance for the tires.

Currently on 18x9 +30 with 255/35. No rubbing anywhere. I have about a fingers distance from the end of the wheel barrel/tire to the stock spring. (Still stock spring and struts)
Coils are going on in the next few weeks. Should be better

I will never understand why people will drop money on wheels and be on stock suspension. Spend that on a decent suspension setup then worry about wheels...

Because people who own FRS/BRZs spend FRS/BRZ money. It's not like they [we] have ///M3 money to blow

Stock suspension with proper alignment is really not THAT bad. Also if owner spent money on wheels mostly for looks, there is less motivation to spend on suspension, as "you don't see it" .

The stock suspension is a freaking masterclass, that's why people do wheels first. The car is very nicely damped from the factory and having 255 track rubber on stock suspension was a dream to drive even though all the kids said my "stance" was wrong.
