Help with new Mods!!!
My 2015 Scion Frs is completely stock minus the rims and rubber. Im on a budget so I cant buy a turbo anytime soon. (I wish)
For the year to come im looking into getting the Injen cold air intake + Invidia cat back exhaust and a cobb tune to finalize things. Has anyone ever ran this set up? Im curious to know how much power Im actually looking to make out of these mods before I go nuts... Any tips, advice, results will help thanks.... |

A K&N drop in filter will provide 80% of the gains of a full cold air intake for significantly less cost.
Cat back is not going to net you much power on an NA car, pick the one you like how it looks/sounds Check out the software tuning section for info on different tunes and hp gains. Most of your power if you are staying naturally aspirated is going to come from the combination of a header and a tune which will also help to lessen the midrange torque dip.

Don't bother with a CAI/SRI. I hated how my car drove when I had the Injen SRI. Stick with a K&N drop in. A header and a tune will give you the most power gain for bolt on stuff. If you just want to change the exhaust note, just get an axle back and save some money.

THIS ^^^^^ A good header and tune will take you a long way. I wouldn't even bother with the other stuff until after the headers tbh

A Cobb tune? As in a Cobb AccessPort? Going to be pretty difficult to do that, given they don't do anything for the twins... Unless you're going to drive down there for a dyno tune.

As Alex mentioned,
Answer this: Are you modding for the sake of modding? Or do you have a goal in mind? You first need to figure out what you want. 1. I only care about power! 2. Balance 3. mild setup 4. improving upon the stock car etc....just gave some examples So in my case, I'm more into improving the stock car and keeping the balance and characteristics of it. So things like going Turbo/Supercharger are not an option since I want to keep the car NA so I can remove that off the list. Another question, will this be a daily car, a weekend car, a track car, autocross car etc.... This way you will know what to prioritize. Also, you have to consider that most NA parts don't give crazy gains and are very minor. A lot of people are always let down because they expected turbo gains which is not the case of this platform. Like for me, when I got my catback, i was "wow this is amazing" but to many it's "I didn't feel anything" so depends on what your expecting. People expect 20hp gain with a catback....they are let down...greatly lol First mods Again, it depends on want you prefer. We can't read your mind. For me, i knew i needed to make the car louder so I got a catback. I'm not chasing after hp numbers. Like i mentioned, my build is more towards improving the stock platform and keep the characteristics of the NA motor. Though, I will say that with a catback, i personally felt some gains. The TQ dip improved, rpms became smoother, and the top end felt like it had some gains. In regards to easy cheap mods....drop in filter. But yeah, you first need to figure out what you want haha There is no right or wrong way in my opinion. You have to figure out what you want and what makes you happy as the driver.

My goal is to make the car louder and make noticeable gains and stay within my budget of course. I think I will look into some Headers.
Does anyone know what kind of tune is best for this set up? Headers + Cold air intake + Cat Back??? |

Take your time with the mod. Step by step.
It is boring to mod everything in a short period of time. Research and start with little thing first. I changed all the light when I first get the car. LED dome light,HID fog light,LED license plate light, LED side marker. |

It's always nice to install a part and notice the difference and experience that difference. You tend to appreciate the overall build and parts much more than when you go and put in everything at once.
