The side markers become your signals if the signal bulb fails on that side, I found this out by accident when I was troubleshooting a faulty led bulb for my turn signal

I just changed mine out for clear with amber bulbs, pretty sure the amber is a requirement in most states but if I can get away with it I might just switch to clear/clear.

Any thoughts?
Sorry if this was the wrong sub to post.
You ever been on a 3 lane highway/interstate?

When your on the left lane, no one in the middle lane, and there's a truck on the right lane.

Well when you put your turn signal to get to the middle lane, your SIDE MARKERS go off and tells that truck driver DONT F****** SWITCH TO THIS LANE because I am doing that right now.

I have seen it first hand on I-95 where (vehicles in same place) both vehicles try to switch to the same lane and don't have side markers, they do that awkward steer where they turn in halfway to the lane slowly and then jolt back to their lane because they notice the other vehicle trying to do the same.

Trust me , YES, they help prevent accidents.
