Man I hope it gets resolved, feel so sad

A common theme I see around here is internal engine failure from oil starvation. The dealers seem to always try to put the blame on the owner if they do not get oil changes at the dealership, but someone had posted pictures of an engine tear down showing excessive sealant inside the engine that may inhibit proper oil flow. So I bet we a dealing with a manufacturing issue.

Let us know what they fine and if they cover the repairs for you. Good luck!

on 11/13/2015 manager called in and said the techs drove the car declaring that the car sounds normal and its fine. I asked him to run the car again for a bit more and to try to replicate the tapping noise.

I gave the car to them on 11/11/2015. They probably just drove it on cold start or just let it idle on cold. I told them to drive it for a while and let the car warm up. I still haven't received a response. I will go to them tomorrow and ask for them on this situation as I dont want to burden my companies rental agreement(they let me have a rental for one week and I expected my car back by now)

I have the same noise in the youtube video, I've captured it on cell phone video as well. The techs said that nothing seemed out of the ordinary when they checked it out, but said that since it's documented under warranty, it would be fixed if anything were to go wrong. I made sure to get that in writing from them, so I'm not too worried about it atm.

my car sounds exactly like this and I diagnosed it as the tensioner, my belt ended up shredded not long after I figured out the issue.

I called them yesterday, service manager said. "were still trying to put some miles on the car" and kept on going saying how they will be testing the car to replicate this issue.

PLEASE LOVE OF FUDGING GOD. 9 days in custody, can I call subaru of america and ask for a car while my car is not being touched?

I dont want to keep asking my company to extend my rental agreement. This is messed up, i showed up to the dealer showing them the noise. They have it for 9 days and still havent even touched my car.

I went last night to the dealer(service closeD). I asked if i can go check my car out(so i can use my spare keys to go in and check out the ODO for its miles). Wouldnt let me saying service is closed.

Im seriously thinking of when i get my car back, im going to be shopping at scion/toyota for used cars to trade in my brz. No way I want to deal with the "only subaru dealership" in Brooklyn.

You may be eligible for a lemon law to get your money back (at least a good portion of it) if it takes them more time to fix it.

http://www.ag.ny.gov/consumer-frauds...law-fact-sheet

However, stories for Scion/Toyota dealerships are just as hit and miss as Subaru.

I got my car back on friday and they said it sounds normal.

they had my car for 10 days and the odometer showed it only moved for 3 miles. They said they couldnt hear the noise i was talking about during the test drive but apparently heard it when i brought the car to them.
told me to bring the car back in if it gets worse

I drove home(~4miles) and I consistently heard the tapping noise( taptaptaptap..tap tap tap)

Going to be looking at used toyota corollas for work. Dont know what to do with my brz(1 year warranty left)

If less than 36k, driver it hard not fast and furious hard but i mean put a little strain on it. If everything still remains the same, its just a quirky engine. Mine rattles a taptap from 1.2k-1.6k-ish. Going to compare with friends FRS later today.

update:

19.5k miles

Same issue. Took to another dealer @ 18k miles and they did oil change/flush. I asked them hows the oil(no metal pieces) just dirty as usual.

Noise is pin pointed to passenger side cylinder head.

OKay so i found out, noise goes away when i press the brake pedal all the way in while the noise is occuring(which occurs @ idle/neutral/park)

Vacuum pump? This is an automatic. (idle pump?)

ALSO if it doesnt tap tap @ idle, all i have to do is just hit the brake pedal(depress it) and the noise will be there. Depressing brake pedal all the way gets rid of it.

sounds like that

and one of the comments :

press the break pedal down a couple times and goes away.
Cheers.

edit

dealer told me to change oil every 3k miles and my warranty might be voided because of my non oem springs and tires/wheel LOL
