Adding a new headunit or phone mount can also help out. I usually load up youtube videos when i get tired of music or stuck in traffic.

Might want to look into a new suspension setup too. A nice set of KWs or Ohlins will make a world of difference in ride comfort if set up correctly.

dynamatting the doors/trunk will also cut out alot of road noise and vibrations.
Drove 5hrs to get my BRZ. Had a rental to go there and I can say that the BRZ is about 500 times more comfortable than I Nissan Altima, seat was so hard my balls hurt when I left the Altima at the Hertz dropoff

People talking about "Stiff ride" must be on springs or coils because the stock suspension is about as stiff as a Corolla.

For me, the Altima has the single most uncomfortable seat I've ever encountered - and I learned to drive in a MGB.

I have done Sturgis SD to London Ontario as a solo, non-stop 1300 mile run and can't say that the seats were a factor in how fucked up I was by the time I got home.

I found that with proper seating position it's very comfortable. I'm not talking about what position you're used to driving or learned. Also posture is a big factor to back problems. I used to be driving for about 4-5 hours a day for my work and I had lower back issues so doing my research on proper seating helped.

Have you experimented with different seating positions? I have driven from NJ to Boston twice now, about 4-6 hours each way (depending on if I pass through NYC). On my first trip, I was comfy for the whole ride. On the second time, I had adjusted my seat differently before departing and found that my lower back started to ache about 2 hours into the trip. I believe that my seatback was slightly more upright on the second trip which is what caused the problem, despite being a very small difference from my usual seating position.

As for coilover ride quality, I have KW V3s set up for street comfort, and I find them to be just as comfy as stock suspension despite being about 1.5" lower and having a lot less body roll around corners. I had a friend with me on the trip to boston and she never once complained/commented on the ride quality, so I guess that means it passes the "girlfriend test"

I'd say it's the seating position too. I've had long drives with Corolla, Camry, Prius, Prius v, Yaris, tC, CR-V, Sienna, and a Jeep I forgot what model, but FR-S really is the most comfortable seat to me. Prius and Prius v were the least comfortable seats. Maybe you need to recline the seat a bit more? That's what it was for me since FR-S was the first sports car and I had to recline the seat more than the other normal cars I had before.

This is so true. I do get beat up mentally before I get beat up physically. To me, driving this car is the quickest stress reliever.

I am very comfortable in my car. In fact, it's the most comfortable and least adjustable driver seat I've had since the early 90's.
I use the Porsche method to adjust my seat and steering wheel. Highly recommended, watch video below.

And I have an armrest slightly taller than the OEM, which also fits me perfectly.

I regularly drive 7-8 hours trips in this car, and it's nothing but pure joy.
Except for the traffic jams. The seat then becomes a little too hot.

Over this past Labor Day weekend, some friends invited us to spend the weekend in a timeshare in Branson, Missouri. I put a little over 1,000 miles on my FR-S over four days, including about 300 through Arkansas mountain roads. The only tiring parts of the trip were just from time behind the wheel. I was always more comfortable than I was previously doing the same trip on several occasions in my Santa Fe. I tend to favor a more compact sitting arrangement, just like the above-mentioned Porsche method.

earlier this year I took my BRZ Limited on an 1800 mile round trip. Before starting out I was a little concerned with fatigue if the car was twitchy at highway speeds. My concerns were unfounded. The car was fine on the interstate and a blast in the Arkansas and Missouri hills. the cabin is a comfortable place and the Alacantra seats are marvelous.

Previously I had a 2009 GTI which is a fabulous Autobahn cruiser. If I put on lots of highway miles it might be the better car to have. But Subaru reliability is far better than VW, a brand I had owned from 1985-2013. And the BRZ is lots more fun than my 2009 GTI. I wouldn't mind checking out the latest edition, though
