Dammit guys. It's the fair in Vankleek Hill this weekend. I drank far too much last night since I just woke up. Now I feel it's way too late to go to Race The Runway or Subiefestival

Since when is it foggy in Ottawa? Just washed the car and realized it really does not want to dry.
Going to see if anyone showed up in Bells Corners then fill with e85 and head for Smiths Falls.
Fog should be gone by then.

Hey guys, random question. Do you guys have a cricket sound coming from the engine? Had my gas pump changed as they said it was the issue. It came back a week or so ago and my car is at 59,600 km so I need to get it fixed under warranty ASAP if it's a fixable issue. Ive checked everywhere for the answer and couldn't find the answer on the forums.

Crickets is a well documented issue.

Depending on the gas you use, it will keep coming back. Other than the annoying noise, it does no harm

Yeah, I've recently switched to 94 and it appears to be louder than usual compared to 91. Just kind of awkward when you hear that noise when you're stopped at a light DT Ottawa. As soon as you're moving, the noise is gone at least... Thanks Perrin Exhaust!

At least they changed your gas pump. Stupid dealers here in Los Angeles don't want to replace the fuel pump.

I agree though it is annoying and awkward. It sounds like I'm out camping in the wilderness.

Even though I've only used Shell 91 for my 33,000km except for maybe 3 fill ups for when I was roadtripping and couldn't find a shell I have crickets.
It's annoying at times, but it adds character

You get crickets even with Shell V-Power 91?
Odd, isn't it? Every time I pump Shell 91, the crickets are gone.

I thought the same thing. I've always filled with Shell 91...never once had a visit from the crickets. This summer I took a trip to the US and took on three tanks that weren't from Shell. The crickets didn't take long to make an appearance. Once home I made sure to empty the tank before filing again with Shell V-Power, and crickets were gone almost immediately.

Do all Shell stations in Canada use the same premium blend??

Never tried Shell 91. My friend is a technician who worked for Subaru for a very long time and told me to put some 94 (Petro Can) vs 91 (Ultramar) and see the power diff. So I've been putting the 94 for three straight times and the crickets are more noticeable imo.

Guess I'll have to try Shell. Thanks a lot for the help guys

Yup. They showed up at the end of winter/early spring. I guess they probably put some ethanol for winter gas.

They went away, but now again they'll pop up, and I find they're always faintly noticeable.

I'm also at 34,xxxkm right now, so perhaps over time it's inevitable.
