Are all the exhaust components ceramic coated? Will there be a thermal blanket to go over the turbo? I see that there's a heat shield between it and the battery, but that location for the turbo has me worried...
Either way, hope the CARB papers get thru! |

No turbo blanket is included because it's not necessary. Our turbo kits' up pipe and downpipe are both ceramic coated on the inside and outside. This helps cut down on radiant engine bay heat significantly. We run a battery heatshield (included in the kit) and have monitored battery surface temperatures after track sessions and have found them to be a non-issue when using the heatshield. We did see some slight heat effects on the thin plastic battery tray after extended track sessions so we redesigned our heatshield to cover the tray as well. The injector ECU showed no heat effect. We provide thermal wrap in our kit to protect all wiring in the area of the turbo. Hope that helps, cheers.

I'd assume since all the emissions equipment is still intact.

There is nothing in the overpipe. The cats are in the header and front pipe.

I believe that he is referring to the fact that per CA law, technically any modification of the exhaust system BEFORE the last catalytic converter is not CARB legal and is grounds to fail a SMOG inspection. So even if I just throw in a Motiv Concepts overpipe and leave the rest of my exhaust intact, it's still no bueno.
Again, as dumb as it sounds, even though it's just replacing one overpipe with another and retaining both factory cats, it's technically still not street legal. Hopefully they'll "do the right thing" and make this kit CARB legal though.
