Speedhead,

You said, "Plus what you shouldn´t forget, the std. FA20D can be sold also, so some $ refund possible. But let´s speak about costs later when the exact kit extent/cost is confirmed"

I'm curious. Can you give us an idea when this might be?

Cheers,

Budo

Also don't forget the lack of head room with the direct on ly injection. You'll soon max out the stock injectors and then where do you go?

Couldn't the port injection be retained from the stock motor some how ?

If not I'm sure there will be upgrades coming soon as more and more new WRX's get sold and people want more from them .

Have you ever priced direct injectors?! If you're going to go through the trouble of swapping the engine, then swapping the injection system from the old engine you might as well build the stock block, cause it will end up being cheaper. Until the fa20dit can be found in wrecking yards for like a grand this isn't really a viable option cost wise.

@ Budo,

target is to have the complete kit and prices setup within the next 2 months.
Also it´s not decided yet, if the kit will be sold directly, or through regional exclusive dealers, which complicates the topic a bit initially.

@ Dipstick,
Thx for the justified question!

As a Motec M142 is used here, there is already a pre-programmed secondary injection function.
The only thing you´d have to do then is to add port injectors, resulting in a superior injection combo (bigger DI system) and stronger hardware compared to the FA20D.

It can be done e.g. by simply adding port injectors "runners" instead of the OE TGV units, which the DIT engine has, so not even a new manifold would be needed!

BTW the Motec M142 will also be available for the WRX soon

Oh, and additionaly there si still the option for a higher pressure DI pump version, which is common to be done in motorsport enignes (e.g. WRC, WTCC).
The stock system finishes at 16 MPa (=160 bar) as the relief valve is opening at that pressure.

Rising the pressure to at least 20 MPa (200 bar) would give substantial benefits in flow rate AND mixture generation => better knock resistance, faster flame expansion, better charge cooling inside cylinder (more filling, less knock)

But that´s some far-uture stuff, surely nothing to happen within 2015.

Hi Guys,

Now news here.
SR is crazy busy with motorsport season start, so not enough resources to take care to finish off the final kit version so it can be distributed.

Will of course keep you updated!

Car btw is running all perfect.
5000+ kms done without any troubles!
Simply works like it has come from the factory

Engine Bay teaser Pic.
Can´t show all yet guys!
Please keep in mind that this is the very first prototype, so there was no focus on fancyness with regards to polished pipes or anything else.
Also EGT and EMAP Sensors still in place

This is definitely unique but I hate to beat a dead horse. Assuming that you can build your engine between 3k to 6k why would anyone ever do this? I just havent seen the reasoning. Ty

FA20DIT BRZ @ STOHL RACING

^ Real Reliability unless you wanna throw up 6k+ for the Cosworth kit. Mind you Cosworth kit have less torque under curve compare to factory fa20dit.

Most kits are not developed with reliability in mind.

your car isn't carbed so, it wouldn't pass inspection in California. btw, why do you care about what others do with their cars?

Why does anyone care? If no one gave s shit this site wouldn't exist. I'm trying to show that if you're not from Cali there are better cheaper more readily available options for you that preform the same or better. Is that wrong?
