Eish, to be honest it's quite intricate and not something I'd like to try explaining. It's almost like micro heart surgery.
Hang on tight, we're working on a solution but I doubt it's going to be a DIY solution. Will keep you posted.

I will wait patiently for the solution. Always bumping into an 86 with DRL activated. Makes me feel sad. |

Haha don't worry, we're working on it - will be a "leave your car with us and we'll make it work" kinda deal. A lot of labour involved so it won't be cheap unfortunately.

A hopeful bump.
Saw 2 86's on the road with DRL on and thought of this thread. @sav any luck with the parts needed? Know some peeps that like to tinker so might be able to make something if needed |

You need some very specific connectors/pig tails which I haven't been able to find. If you can get a crashed high spec headlight then I can help, no problem. Only need one to do 2 headlights.

Hi
There is but you need an old/crashed high spec headlight to salvage the missing pins. I haven't been able to source them separately.

Okay, here you go:
Remove the first headlight Remove the rubber plug and look inside, you should notice a white block connector with 2 wires going into it: To achieve this you're going to need a long flat screwdriver and a bit of patience. Locate the release tab and get push it with the screwdriver while pulling on teh wire. Not too hard or you'll snap the tab. If that happens you're in for a world of hurt. Now use one of the wires from the broken headlight for the 3rd and missin wire on that connector: Now for the other side you're going to use one of the pins/wires from the broken headlight's block conenctor: The tricky part here is that you need to create a small hole and push it through: Very trick, we've used a pin which we've heated with a lighter. Once youv'e managed that you're going to connect and solder the two new wires together: And seal them with heat shrink. Next is another trick part - getting the small white block connector back into the headlight through that tiny hole. Here it was best to use a small, long flat screwdriver again to guide it in. It's important that you can hear it clicking in. Once done you can fit the rubber plug with teh wires in place again. The new wire should have a good seal if you've made a small enough hole and amanaged to push it through. Now connect the long pin in the block connector like so: That's pretty much it, rince repeat for the other headlight. Put it all back together, fit a DRL relay and test. Important to note that the engine must be running and the handbrake down for the DRL to light up. If they're working then all that's left to do is refit the bumper.
