Are you passing or racing? I've never had any issue passing people quickly with one downshift. Most of the time I don't even need to...

Probably just passing, since I feel the same way as well.
We take drives on a 1 lane coastal highway and backroads fairly often which have some longer windy spots. People drive slow as hell around ANY sort of turn but once there's a passing lane or a straight you can pass on, everyone speeds up and makes it fairly difficult to pass safely in a reasonable amount of time.

i'd buy the tS model because it's a track ready version, upgraded brakes and Aero goes a long way. Having to spend that money yourself could end up costing more, btw, the price is pure speculation and Limited BRZs can be had for 27k flat, about 29k out the door easily nowadays.

So, the same board that chastises people for buying an AT complains about a downshift required to make a pass. Shouldn't that be where you show off your elite shifting skills that the AT guys don't have?

<--- drives an MT, loves downshifting to 3rd to make the pass quickly on a country road.

How about leaving things to each their own? Everyone has their own perspectives and reasoning for buying what they bought - whether it's just a base model or not or choice of gearbox.

To each their own.
It has been said, no more discussion or disagreement about anything ever unless you 100% agree with said statement/expression.

Nah, not going to happen.
Like I have said before, if everybody agreed on "to each there own" this would be the friendliest but most boring place on the internet.

I would actually like to drive some of these "I can't get past people" cars or see what sort of situation they are attempting to pass in. Like you, I have never once had an issue and I only drop one gear (if any) to do my passing. If the drop in filter and TRD exhaust make that big a difference everybody should get them.

Hmmmm... I personally can't remember ever giving anybody a hard time for getting an automatic. In fact, I know I've even stated here before that I drove an automatic one and it was better than I expected.

Again, I'm not saying the car is underpowered and it's awful and blah blah blah. I'm saying a little more (or more mid rang torque) wouldn't hurt. Of course, there is aftermarket solutions for that, but it would still be nice to see something extra from the box.

I had a GS intake, tomei EL header, and OFT and thought it was just the right amount of power for the car. The extra torque from a UEL would have been nice but o personally hate the sound.

I find it amusing though that people like to dismiss anybody's reasoning for wanting more power from the car, as if everybody wants the exact same thing from the car.

In stock form, driving the FRS and focus st back to back is pretty noticeable on the highway and even on the streets. Dropping a gear on the FRS to overtake still takes a noticeable amount longer than just flooring it in the st.

When the FRS was modified with header, intake, exhaust etc, it was quite a bit better. Similar to the st as a mater of fact.
