Cold rattle?

Hey guys i have a relatively new issue that I've just noticed. i tried searching the forums but i couldn't find anything. (or I'm just really bad at searching, if so could someone provide the link if they've seen a similar issue)

During cold startup i am hearing a slight rattling coming from below the shift knob area (thats where i think i hear it) its only when cold, after about 5-10 minutes of driving it goes away. i can only hear it at idle, if i push down on the clutch the rattle goes away, when i let off the rattle comes back.

The only things i have done to the car is the white line positive shift kit and MTEC shift springs. i never noticed it before but i just started hearing it about a month ago (got the positive shift kit installed about 3 months ago). maybe its because the weather has been getting colder lately? just got the MTF and diff fluid replaced yesterday, used AMSOIL fluid for the MTF and motul for the diff.

Any ideas what this could be? Thanks!

It's probably not the answer you were hoping for, but unfortunately, there are a lot of rattles in this car and all of them are normal. It is hard to pin point it without being in/next to the car.

Lots of people have this, sort of a knocking rattle from the transmission on cold starts. I BELIEVE it's the flywheel, and is normal. Seems to usually happen to people after changing out tranny fluid. I have it after changing to Motul in the tranny. It even warns in the manual that use of an aftermarket trans or diff fluid can create noises.

Yeah I got a flywheel rattle when cold. As soon as I depress the clutch, it goes away. :/ thought it was a rod knock at first. Eek!

if the noise goes away when you press the clutch in then it aint the flywheel as its still spinning bolted to the crankshaft.

if the noise disappears then itslikely in the transmission\input shaft\clutch plate or clutch actuator that now under pressure against the pressure plate ect as the transmission input shaft stuff stops spinning when clutch is depressed and vehicle is stationary.

Yep, can confirm. I have this too now after switching to Motul in the transmission at 30K miles. Start up, rattling sound, depress clutch and its gone, release and its there.

Gear oil that came out was dark gray and the magnetic drain plug was filthy with metal shavings. I should have changed this stuff out 10K miles ago had I known... Shifting is so smooth now, but the rattling is worrisome.
