It's okay. I stalled mine about 20 times the first day. Half a dozen times was on a steep hill :/ (i hate hills haha)

Managed to highway drive it and take it home afterwards.

I've driven my car since October and I still stall mine about once every other week; granted it usually coincides with loud rock music spewing from the grills

IMO, I'm a female driver and living in San Gabriel Valley.
I am also a girl in San Gabriel Valley. I have an auto WRB BRZ. I was mad I got auto before cause my mom told me she wanted to drive my car too but she rarely ever drives it and never now since I've lowered it. After driving it daily around here for 2 and half years, I'm glad I got it in auto now.

I commute from the SGV to the OC everyday. Stick with an auto if you're gonna be commuting OP. It'll come in handy for those days that you just want to get to work with no fuss. My commute is an hour each way, and manual mode does its job most of the time if I want to feed the squirrels.

P.S. Avoid south coast Subaru if you're not trying to be ripped off by shady stealership tactics. Their service department is bomb.com though.

Dont feel bad about going auto, I was tempted to, but I bought the car for fun (I commute with mass transit since theres no parking in NYC anyway).

My 2015 Limited BRZ Manual was 28.5k out the door, everything included.

Not sure how LA prices compare to NYC prices though.
Unless you buy hybrid or electric, CA charges a ton of fees and taxes on top of car purchases (9-10% sales tax + ~$300 in fees). If you get a BRZ for $26k, then OTD price is still at least $28.6k.

To the OP: I drive 37 miles each way for my commute in a manual on the 405 and 101, and it's do-able (to/from Thousand Oaks from LA).

Where do you work in LA? Ironically my brother takes a vanpool from Thousand Oaks to UCLA, but drives from Oxnard to Thousand Oaks.

I just double checked my invoice. Car price was 25.8k for my manual limited. Fees + Taxes were another 2.7k on top

I go the other way around. To Thousand Oaks from Westwood, haha.

Nice price! I bought my car in DC but I was $28.9k OTD in July 2013. NYC prices sounds like California
