Whiteout/SWP or Halo/CWP for my FD?
My '94 Chaste White FD is getting a sorely needed paint job. Haven't been a huge fan of the solid off- or bone-white factory color, so... Satin/matte white really appeals to me, but worried it might get old and also worry about caring for that finish on a car that goes to the track a lot...
I've decided I want a metallic/pearl white for the FD. Will be looking closely at Whiteout/Satin White Pearl and Halo/Crystal White Pearl. Opinions and good pictures of FR-S/BRZ in these colors would be most welcome ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I'd go Honda championship white because I hate pearlescent white paint

Of the two choices you've listed... I think Halo looks better.
I do think Dave-RoR's suggestion is good too; or Toyota Super White (a personal favorite). |

I've got whiteout. It can look a bit yellow in certain light, especially painted plastic pieces like the bumper covers.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I also hear it's very difficult to paint match because it's applied as a tri-coat. I prefer the flat white ("candy white") on my GTI, which is noticeably less yellow:

The factory FD chaste white leans in that direction, this would just be a much more interesting metallic/pearl rendition of that. Quote:
Haven't decided if I want it to keep some tone to it or to go in a more pure white direction. |

To me, VW's candy white looks sharper, especially if you wanted to go with a white car, black wheels, red caliper/seat color combination (for example). Really just depends what you prefer. Your FD looks good as is, so nothing wrong with sticking with the status quo color either.

Yeah, the silver/blue/white pearl looks interesting... Have been thinking of keeping it color neutral but I have an open mind. Definitely need to look at some more Lexi in person!
Here's what I found that I like so far after visiting a half dozen dealerships: Ford White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat: Kind of hard/cold, but very sharp. Has a definite metallic look without looking too metal-flakey. Very white with titanium tones in shaded areas. Fine(ish) neutral-colored metallic flecks. Mazda Snowflake White Pearl: Softer and warmer, but without looking off-white. Fine neutral-colored pearl flecks with a nice shimmering glow in sunlight. Subaru Crystal White Mica: From some angles with the sun behind you, it has a kind of pearlescent glow. From the opposite angle you get a LOT of glints in all colors. Disco lives! |

Another vote for 'plain' white. imo the metallics, sparkles, and pearlescents will become outdated in <5 years, they seem gaudy to me now and have been on a downward trend since about 2002.
Bright flat white will be timeless, all I can think of when I hear 'white car' is the Toyota 2000GT and various GTI's: classics. Oh and rental vehicles and work pickups. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ij9A22-F1d8"]VW GTI Fast / Wind - YouTube[/ame] |

Between the two I personally like the white tone of the Crystal White Pearl
but I was thinking if you wanted the pearl white then why not plastidip? similar effect imo to the SWP maybe even CWP and a lot cheaper.. though if you think it looks cheap as well then I do understand. |

I really like the Glacier Frost Mica LSxJunkie posted, it looks super cool.
Also, it's said that taping the body panel gaps on a car does not make a detectable difference to aero lol. |
