Tuned today!

I got dyno tuned today at BrenTuning here in MA. I believe he used BRZEdit. I'm definitely happy with the results, the torque dip is all but gone and it pulls very hard all through the powerband, especially at the top. I have a Perrin drop in filter, OpenFlash UEL headers, and an Invidia q300 catback.

195whp/156wtq (the base numbers are with the mods, prior to the tune)

those numbers are really high for just a drop in, OFH, and an invidia 300.

Indeed very high, especially when mustang dynos usually run low.

Like the others are reporting, I thought these were high too. When I dyno'd on a mustang, I ran a base of like 167hp / 139tq. (Don't have the sheet to verify because I am at work )

Honestly, though, If those are true numbers, you might just have a hot block and that's awesome. Gratz on almost 200 hp pump. When I dyno'd, I was with 3 other Fr-S and one of them ran 11hp more on base than the rest. Dyno guy said sometimes it just happens that way.

EDIT: I see you mentioned the OFH. Do did you also have an OFT tune to start?

I don't thinkt hat dyno is calibrated correctly. We had a vendor in our area who made sure his dyno read out 25+ HP more just so guys thought he was an amazing tuner, or that their cars were freaks. Not everyone keys into this.

In any case, the real use of the dyno for me is to see what does where in the power and torque curve once i have a baseline down.

header, op, fp and a custom tune to come still.

@Dr Speed Are you in Thunder bay? Haha. Apparently my '13 FRS with a K&N Drop in, Invidia Catless frontpipe and Q300 makes 189WHP and 149WTQ. Oh with out a tune

BrenTuning is a very reputable tuner in the northeast. He tunes many different kinds of cars and his numbers never seem out of the ordinary. My car might be an outlier, but the numbers aren't that crazy for a car with headers on good quality 93. Especially if people are getting close to 170hp stock.

My base numbers were with the header, catback, and perrin filter... I never dyno'd stock. I think the baseline tune may have been with my OFT OTS map.

In today's age, there is no such thing as a "hot block". That used to describe a perfectly set up block when calibration and manufacturing tools were inadequate for tight tolerances. Nowadays, you should worry if your block is anything less or more than the rated.

Thanks for the information. I know that OFT stage 2 off the shelf can bring in ~20hp. So, if your base has that, Let's pretend you started at 165 - 170hp stock stock, showroom floor. That's not crazy at all. On a mustang Dyno that's absolutely wheel house. (Remember I was 167hp) Now add the OTS tune, and that's your baseline of 189hp. Again, very doable through the OFT. Now add a pro-tuner who sets a tune specific to your vehicle and how it handles the mods you have. Now we're at the 195 peak hp shown in the dyno, right?

To me, this all sounds very realistic and very cool. Thanks for sharing these numbers for us. I'm actually waiting for my OFT now, and looking forward to about the same amount of gains through OTS tuning.

Like was stated, try not to care about the end all HP/TQ numbers because they will change dyno to dyno. climate to climate. But that curve looks great, showing the torque dip all but gone and very smooth transitions. I imagine that ECU chart would look breautiful too. gratz again
